Evening in Paris – Giveaway

When I was an unsophisticated little girl, I believed that the most glamorous, luxurious, perfume a lady could ever own was “Evening in Paris“.

It was sold at Woolworth’s, a 5 and 10 Cent store, so it was definitely affordable for adults, but I remember hoping, during a Christmas season long ago, that I’d be able to scrape together enough of my weekly allowance to buy a small bottle for my Mom . . . (I did!)

Who knows if it actually smelled all that great but there was something enchanting about that cobalt blue bottle with it’s ultra sleek shape. Oh la la! (At least it was to a kid whose age was still a single digit.)

I know. You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this walk down memory lane….

Well, after I finished making these earrings, I was suddenly reminded of the perfume, so naming them was a given. And speaking of “given” – how about a GIVEAWAY! 😀

Coffee’s On

Hi Kids,
Come on in . . . You’re just in time for tea (or coffee if you prefer)!

If you’ve been with me for a while, you probably remember the “weekly question”! For many months, we all checked in here on Mondays and shared a laugh, our latest news, and sometimes – even a bit of advice. It was our virtual coffee klatsch. 😉

I’ve been missing those times, so today I’m here with a question!

But just a little background, first . . .

I’ve always been a fan of the clever pun.
Businesses often choose something cute and “punny” as a name. I can think of a couple of hair salons around here that prove my point:

Curl Up and Dye

The Hairafter

Usually the puns are intentional but when they are not intentional – they can be even more amusing!

The following businesses used the real names of the proprietors – I’m serious!

Bland’s Restaurant

Flowers Funeral Home

Dr. Wolfe, Veterinarian

Funny, yes?

So, my question is:

Can you think of a business in your area that has a clever name?

(And if you can’t… well, have another cup and tell us about your weekend!) 🙂

Hugs,

Weekly Question

Is it November already?

Autumn’s flying, don’t you agree?

The Bead Challenge Photos are arriving daily. As soon as I receive a couple more (from overseas), I’ll unveil all of the entries. I think you’ll be pretty impressed! 🙂

In the meantime . . .

How about a “Weekly Question”?

Throughout the early years of this blog, I used to ask a new question every Monday. Many of you told me you loved answering the questions and also reading all the replies.

So, today, I thought it would be fun to try it again! This one comes from my files. It’s based on an idea originally sent to me by Carol – in response to my call to readers for “topic suggestions”. 🙂

“How did you meet your partner (mate, significant other, or whatever you call him or her) and what was your first date?”

Or, if you prefer a different question: Describe a favorite person in your life. What makes him or her so special?

I’ll add my answer in the comments section, soon!

Hugs,

There’s No Place Like Home

Greetings Kids!
We’ve just returned from a little trip to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We traveled to the beautiful coast of Maine and then to the glorious mountains of Vermont.

Our plans had been in jeopardy at the last minute, though! You see; Hurricane Irene was bearing down on our area the day before we were to leave. We suddenly found ourselves packing for a vacation and battening down the hatches to weather the storm, all at the same time! We worried about how we’d deal with the food in the fridge if we lost power (We did lose it!). We wondered what to do if the electricity was not back on before we left! Should we leave the food in the fridge and pray the power would come back soon enough so it wouldn’t spoil? Or should we just dump all of the food as a guarantee we wouldn’t return to a mess after our trip? Ay-yi-yi.

Fortunately, everything settled down just in time for us to go as planned. Our getaway was wonderful. The weather was sunny all through the week and the temperatures were around 80 degrees – perfect. I’ll post some pretty pictures and talk a little about our escapades in the coming days . . .

But for now, I thought it would be fun to get your take on travel, so let’s have a weekly question, ok? 🙂

I‘ve always felt that no matter how nice a vacation is, no matter how much fun you had, or how beautiful the places you visited . . . there’s no place like home!

That first night back in your own home, in your own bed, is pure bliss – plain and simple.

I’m curious how you feel about it!

Hugs,
