Coffee’s On

Hi Kids,
Come on in . . . You’re just in time for tea (or coffee if you prefer)!

If you’ve been with me for a while, you probably remember the “weekly question”! For many months, we all checked in here on Mondays and shared a laugh, our latest news, and sometimes – even a bit of advice. It was our virtual coffee klatsch. 😉

I’ve been missing those times, so today I’m here with a question!

But just a little background, first . . .

I’ve always been a fan of the clever pun.
Businesses often choose something cute and “punny” as a name. I can think of a couple of hair salons around here that prove my point:

Curl Up and Dye

The Hairafter

Usually the puns are intentional but when they are not intentional – they can be even more amusing!

The following businesses used the real names of the proprietors – I’m serious!

Bland’s Restaurant

Flowers Funeral Home

Dr. Wolfe, Veterinarian

Funny, yes?

So, my question is:

Can you think of a business in your area that has a clever name?

(And if you can’t… well, have another cup and tell us about your weekend!) 🙂

Hugs,

How Does She Do That?

Hiya Kids 😀
Happy Monday!

Just for fun, “Crystal the Goofy Magnificent” will endeavor to amaze and astound you with her uncanny ability to “guess” what you may have been doing over the weekend.

OK, I will need complete silence while I wave my hands over my crystal ball . . . 😉

Ah, let me see…

Carol and her hubby celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. Congratulations! 🙂

Clenna was very likely enjoying time with her grandkids.

I’ll bet Kelly and her hubby went for a ride on their bike.

Paulette was watching the Yankees games and I’m guessing she was stitching something gorgeous at the same time.

Don_mae was shopping for books on beading.

Lori was working on a new art technique and making some beautiful new tags.

Cindi might have enjoyed her favorite sandwich, which is peanut butter and strawberry jam.

Carapace was creating something wonderful, for sure.

Allison was helping her daughter (who will soon be a big sister!) get ready for school.

Jane was probably designing a hat for autumn! 🙂

Holly is making lovely necklaces with clusters of colorful beads!!!

Yona collects books – so perhaps she was reading?

Connie loves ice cream and frozen treats like slushies – did she have one of those things over the weekend? I’ll guess “yes”.

Madwoman-doing-cartwheels might have been wearing the July Giveaway earrings that she recently won.

Cheryl may have been knitting, or working on her gingerbread house. 🙂

Michelle loves chocolate, so I’m hoping she had some this weekend!

Jenny spent time on her shady back porch.

AmandaSue is a girl with an eye for fashion. She enjoys dressing up a bit – even for ordinary days. I’ll bet she chose a pretty dress for this weekend.

Roxy might have had friends over to relax on her roof deck.

Ohhh!!!! The crystal ball has clouded over – for now!

If I haven’t mentioned you today, and you’d like to be included next time, just leave a comment to let me know.

By the way, there’s no “crystal ball”. I just know these things because I read and enjoy every single one of your comments. 😀

I almost forgot this week’s question . . .

Would you go on a reality show if given the chance?

If you haven’t seen the August Giveaway, you can find it here. Every time you leave a comment this month, you earn another chance in the drawing!

Milestones . . .

I can hardly believe that this is my 400th post.

And in another few weeks, I will have been writing this blog for exactly two years. Who would have thought I had so much to say?

Don’t answer that! 😉

For the first few months, I posted weekly, but before long, I began to post Monday through Friday, and have kept up that pace ever since.

In the beginning, I really struggled to find my blog “voice”. I worried that I sounded too much like a “professor”, or too formal. I wanted to use humor, but was afraid I’d sound silly. I wondered whether I should write on many different topics or stick to a theme? Back then, it quickly became apparent to me, that there was a learning curve to this blog stuff.

After I’d been writing for several months, a new commenter arrived on the scene. It was January 1, 2009. Her comment was very kind:

“Glad I found your blog. I am on my way to see your shop!! I LOVE cabs.”

Little did I know that this lady would be with me every day from that moment on. Each morning when I’d sign onto the blog, her comment was waiting. She became my barometer for measuring how I was doing with my posts. If she liked it, or she laughed, or she said the post touched her – then I knew I was making progress.

If you’ve been with me for a while, you know her too . . .

I’d like to dedicate this 400th post to Carol. 😀

Because she has been commenting on every post for 18 months, I fear that, on some level, I take her for granted. Of course, I do NOT mean to, but I’ve become spoiled. It’s like when you turn on the TV in the morning – you expect to see the Today Show. Well, when I sign into the blog each day – Carol’s comment is waiting. It has become part of the day!

Thank you, Dear Carol . . . for your friendship, advice, sense of humor, and very kind heart. I’ve told you before, but it was your consistent support during my earliest days of blogging, that helped me to push forward and have the confidence to keep at it. You’ve made an immeasurable contribution here. Love ya so much! 😀

Hugs,

Getting to Know You

I was thinking it would be fun for us to get to know each other a little better. 😀

lucky7

So for this week’s Lucky Seven, we have . . .

7 Things About You!

I’ll go first and I hope you’ll give your responses in the comments! If you don’t want to do all 7 – no problem! Just do as many as you like.

1. Where were you born?
Boston, Massachusetts. I spent summer vacations in a much more rural area, so I’m a true combination of city girl and country girl.

2. Do you have a journal?
Does this blog count? 😉 When I was a teenager, I did have a little leather diary with a lock and key. I’m not sure where it is today, so hopefully nobody out there is planning a tabloid tale of the angst and escapades of my youth! lol

3. Favorite food?
Heaven help me. I love things that one shouldn’t have in large portions – like pasta, potatoes, and rice. In my defense, I do LOVE all vegetables, though!

4. If you didn’t make the decision to get married and have a family, (or to be in the job you have now) what would you be doing today?
I would probably be a teacher. Of course, having a family doesn’t preclude that, but when I was expecting my first baby, I made the decision to be a stay-at-home Mom. It meant that family finances were a little trickier to manage, so over the years, I’ve worked at jobs where I could get some hours when my husband was available to watch the kids. I’ve always described myself as a “full-time Mom with a variety of part-time jobs”.

5. Who do you miss the most?
My grandparents – all 4 of them. I was really lucky to know both sets of grandparents very well. Three of them lived into my adult years. Each was unique and very special. They all had a part in shaping the person I am today. I don’t think there is anything more wonderful than a loving relationship between a child and a grandparent. My wish for every kid would be to have that opportunity.

6. What is your least favorite thing about yourself?
Without a doubt, it’s that I am too sensitive. I wish I could change that. My feelings are too easily hurt and I’ve been that way since I was little. There is an upside though. I also am very empathetic to the feelings of others. My family and friends know they have someone who truly cares when they need consolation or a shoulder to cry on.

7. Scary Movies or Happy Endings???

Happy Endings, please. I’m such a scaredy cat! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve missed whole scenes of scary movies because I was squinting through slightly opened fingers and trying not to hear anything! During a scary part, I’m usually hiding my eyes and whimpering to Sir Beads: “What’s happening now?!?” :-O

Poor guy, he misses snippets of the movie with my antics. It’s a wonder he has put up with me for so long!

Well, so now it’s your turn! 🙂

How would you answer the questions?
