I was thinking it would be fun for us to get to know each other a little better. š
So for this weekās Lucky Seven, we have . . .
7 Things About You!
Iāll go first and I hope you’ll give your responses in the comments! If you don’t want to do all 7 – no problem! Just do as many as you like.
1. Where were you born?
Boston, Massachusetts. I spent summer vacations in a much more rural area, so I’m a true combination of city girl and country girl.
2. Do you have a journal?
Does this blog count? š When I was a teenager, I did have a little leather diary with a lock and key. Iām not sure where it is today, so hopefully nobody out there is planning a tabloid tale of the angst and escapades of my youth! lol
3. Favorite food?
Heaven help me. I love things that one shouldn’t have in large portions – like pasta, potatoes, and rice. In my defense, I do LOVE all vegetables, though!
4. If you didn’t make the decision to get married and have a family, (or to be in the job you have now) what would you be doing today?
I would probably be a teacher. Of course, having a family doesnāt preclude that, but when I was expecting my first baby, I made the decision to be a stay-at-home Mom. It meant that family finances were a little trickier to manage, so over the years, Iāve worked at jobs where I could get some hours when my husband was available to watch the kids. Iāve always described myself as a “full-time Mom with a variety of part-time jobs”.
5. Who do you miss the most?
My grandparents ā all 4 of them. I was really lucky to know both sets of grandparents very well. Three of them lived into my adult years. Each was unique and very special. They all had a part in shaping the person I am today. I donāt think there is anything more wonderful than a loving relationship between a child and a grandparent. My wish for every kid would be to have that opportunity.
6. What is your least favorite thing about yourself?
Without a doubt, itās that I am too sensitive. I wish I could change that. My feelings are too easily hurt and Iāve been that way since I was little. There is an upside though. I also am very empathetic to the feelings of others. My family and friends know they have someone who truly cares when they need consolation or a shoulder to cry on.
7. Scary Movies or Happy Endings???
Happy Endings, please. I’m such a scaredy cat! I canāt tell you how many times Iāve missed whole scenes of scary movies because I was squinting through slightly opened fingers and trying not to hear anything! During a scary part, Iām usually hiding my eyes and whimpering to Sir Beads: āWhatās happening now?!?ā :-O
Poor guy, he misses snippets of the movie with my antics. Itās a wonder he has put up with me for so long!
Well, so now itās your turn! š
How would you answer the questions?
1) St. Louis, Missouri
2) No
3) I like seafood and dark chocolate
4) I don’t know. I’m going to school now for a business degree. Once I was offered a job as a dive master in Granada, maybe I would be doing that.
5) My mom, she was so excited when I started college, I would love for her to know I have earned scholarships. (I believe she knows, but in person)
6) Sometimes, I want to do it my way. I can be a hardhead.
7) Happy endings, not a horror fan at all.
Good post Crissie!!
1. Born in Chicago, that great town!! LOVE CHICAGO!!!!
2. I have a blog
http://beadsandbirds.blogspot.com
thats as close as I get to journalling. However, I do keep a journal of design thoughts and links to remember.
3. favorite food…it would be so much easier to tell you what I don’t like than what I do. Pasta concoctions that don’t use red sauce are probably my favorites.
4. I would probably like to be a veternary assistant or work with animals in some way.
5. I miss my Dad, my friend Phyllis and my friend Nina. Mostly I miss my dog Dino. After 10 years I still miss him every day.

Well, I am really at the point where I haven’t done any of that… I just finished my Masters and am looking for a job… but nothing seems to be biting. Also, I have a serious boyfriend who isn’t ready for the next step yet. So, I’m kinda at the point before this question… :oS
5. Who do you miss the most?
I miss a lot of people, but I wish that my brother lived closer (he’s in California). He’s my favorite person of all time, and I love when he’s around.
6. What is your least favorite thing about yourself?
I am really easy to get along with. I tend to make friends really easily, probably because I prefer smiling… I dunno. Maybe? ^_^

Yep, sure do. I try to write in it everyday but it gets hard when the kids and hubby are pestering you to do stuff.

4. What would I be doing today?
I probably would still be doing musial theatre. Now, I work on writing, directing plays and helping the drama team at my daughter’s school.
5. Who do you miss the most?
I miss our daughter Ruby, she passed away 3 years ago and was only 21 months old. I think of her everyday and cry for her a lot still but know she is safe in the arms of her Saviour, and that one day I will get to hold her for all of eternity. She’s also the one that I write my journal to, so that she can always stay connected and be part of our everyday lives.
6. What is your least favourite thing about yourself?
My self doubt and negative thoughts. I’m working on these in therapy and it’s still a struggle everyday, but it’s getting better.
7. Scary Movies or Happy Endings?
Happy Endings please!! I’m not willing to pay money to get scared, I just have to let me 2 1/2 year old son around the house and watch him climb stuff to get a scare.

5. Who do you miss the most?
My mom. My family… well, they’re not much of a family. I have no one that I just talk to to talk… heck, 3 weeks ago was my father’s birthday. They rushed to get a dinner together to celebrate. My birthday is next week and no one has even called, let alone wants to spend it with me. My dad is away on a cruise, so he can’t, but the rest of them…. I don’t have sisters or brothers, and I guess I wasn’t as close with my aunt and cousins (and grandma, it seems) as I thought.

Hi everyone!

It’s so wonderful to read all of your replies to this post! What a great group of interesting and clever people we all are.
Hey, I’m only saying it cause it’s true!!

I like scary movies with happy endings but the movie can’t hurt a child or a dog! And I don’t like blood all over the place. My absolutely favorite is the suspense or mystery type movie – love action.

6. What I like least about myself is the inability to sometimes go with the flow. I can be too intense and too set in my thinking.
7. Happy endings!!! My husband & daughter like scary movies but I do not see the appeal.
Hi Crystal!
I loved reading your seven things, and we are so alike, it’s not funny!
…I was born on Long Island.
…My favorite foods (I don’t just have one) are breads, potatoes, pasta, any sort of breakfast food and dark chocolate!…throw in some apple pie too!
…I wish I would have gone to college for art. I love animals, but if I worked with them, I know I’d have a house full, so I couldn’t do that!
I like detective stuff too! … but, I liked being a stay at home mom with (like you) a variety of part time jobs along the way. š
…God, I miss my dad so much, more than I could ever say.
… The least favorite thing about myself I guess is that I have very little self confidence and I’m way to sensitive.
…Always happy endings over the scary movies. Crystal, I hide behind my hands too, or I close my eyes, stick my fingers in my ears and hum, so I can’t hear or see the scary parts! …how hilarious we both are! I was hiding behind my hands when Frank showed me his cut hand…and from across the room too, so it’s not only scary movies, it’s scary anything!
Sending hugs,
Paulette š
