Free Beads – Jewelry Challenge

Greetings Kids! πŸ˜€

Today, I’m adding a new feature to the blog.

I’m offering a set of FREE BEADS to five designers!

The only condition is that each person who accepts the beads will make something and send me a photo of the finished product within 10 days of receiving the beads.

All of the designs will be featured in an upcoming post, and I will link to your etsy shop or website if you wish! You can use the beads for any form of jewelry or in any other craft you enjoy. Because this is the first time I’ve offered a Free Beads Design Challenge, I’d like to ask your help in deciding which beads to send . . .

Take a look at the photos below and please let me know in the comments if you think #1, #2, or #3 should be the bead that all 5 designers will use this time! πŸ˜€

While you are commenting, be sure and tell me if YOU are interested in participating in this Design Challenge and receiving the free beads.

If there are more than 5 interested, I will use the random number generator to choose the winners. The deadline to enter is Friday, Oct. 21, 2011. and the beads will be shipped very shortly thereafter.

Ok, ready?

Should it be . . .

Beads #1? (Set of 10 beads, Size: 13 x 9 mm) Vintage Lucite ovals in fuchsia with a delicate trace of white marbling and a subtle sheen on their surface – so pretty!

OR

Beads #2? (Set of 10 beads, Size: 12mm in diameter) These very cool little Vintage Lucite beads are an β€œantiqued” silver color, with a pretty “beaded” border. The beads are slightly tranlucent so they have have a soft inner glow when the light hits them.

OR

Beads #3? (Set of 10 beads, Size: 10mm) Fab Vintage Lucite Beads in a yummy shade of turquoise aqua with an iridescent aurora borealis finish! Elegant ribbed texture and a geometric shape.

It isn’t necessary to use all ten beads in your design – whatever you decide will be perfect!

And even if you don’t want to enter the challenge, you can vote for which beads we’ll use. πŸ™‚

It should be fun to see how things turn out!

Free Beads – Jewelry Challenge — 24 Comments

  1. I would love to participate! How could I go wrong. Free beads and new exposure. Thanks for the opportunity. Crossing my fingers I have a good number. Lol.

Oh, and I vote for number 3, the turquoise ones.

  2. Hi Crystal,
What a great idea, please count me in – That’s if you are happy to ship the beads to the UK?
I love the Vintage Lucite Oval beads, they are right up my street πŸ™‚
    Fingers crossed I get picked.

    Natalia πŸ™‚

  3. Hello–I saw your post in the forums; I love a beading challenge and use lots of vintage beads and components. I like lot #2–I’m intrigued by the slight translucence. The turquoise beads are lovely as well.
    Thanks!
    Richelle

  4. Any of the three would make a great challenge but I say #1 (the pink beads) are the ones I vote for. Pink isn’t a color I work with very often so I think it would be an interesting challenge to work with them.

Also, I am interested in participating in this Design Challenge.

  5. Yes, definately #1 beads! The color is right in with what Pantone’s latest pick is “Honeysuckle” which to me is fuchsia …and PLEASE count me in as an interested bead artist!! Sounds like fun!

  6. This sounds really fun! awesome idea. Id love to participate πŸ™‚
I vote for number 3 as well!

  7. This is a great way to promote both your shop and the designer’s shop. Don’t put me in the mix. I’m into sewing right now. But you know I’m always around to see what you are up to.
    xx, Carol

  8. I don’t want to participate, but I want to vote for #2. But they are all pretty! I will be excited to see what your designers come up with!!
But NOBODY would like to see what I would create—–I’m sure it would be quite the train wreck. I do not have a creative, crafty bone in my body!

    What fun!

  9. Hi Crystal!
I would love to participate, that is if I get picked. All of your beads are lovely, but my vote is for the 1st set. That fuchsia color is just so beautiful, plus they would be so much fun to play with! Actually, all of them would fun to play with…I can’t help it, I’m a bead lover and hoarder! lol! ;-D

  10. I would love to participate and I vote for #3. Turquoise is always a hot color and I think the texture and shape really add a lot of interest to the beads. Second choice would be #2.

  11. Yes yes yes…dying to participate! Saw your suggestion in the Etsy forums and loved your idea. I would vote for #2 since I also am drawn to the description of ‘slight translucence,’ and with the neutrality of those beads you should get five very different pieces! They are all beautiful, though, and any would be a lovely choice for a contest like this.

Do you know if any of your vintage Lucite beads were Made in USA?

    Thanks – Sharon

  12. Hello Crystal. I am so glad that you had such a wonderful response to your great idea and have decided to follow through.
I would love to be entered in your drawing to be one of the artists to design a piece of jewelry with your beads.

While all three of your bead options are cool in their own way – I am going to vote for option 2. I think that because of its neutrality – it would lend itself to more creativity.

I hope to hear from you again soon – but if I don’t I will certainly be watching to see what everyone has come up with.

    Thanks,
    Beth

  13. I like #2 but don’t enter me. The only thing I know how to do it stick them on a string and I’m pretty sure most 10 year olds could do it better than me. I do look forward to seeing what the winners make.

  14. Count me in!!!!!
I vote for #1, I would love for you to include my etsy website!! I hope that I am one of the 5!!!
    Thanks,
    Gillian

  15. I looked at the choices and I am going to go with the fushia beads in photo #1. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,
    Debbie

  16. How exciting!! I will even shut down my sewing machine to work on your bead challenge. How about that!! πŸ˜€

    Beads #2 for me.

What a great thing to do. I am going to post your challenge on my blog.

  17. Hi Crystal,
Sounds like great idea. I would like to participate in your Design Challenge.
All the beads are gorgeous. The 2nd one (Beads #2) I like the most.
    Thanks
    Priya

  18. Oh Wow! Would love to take part.

The Vintage Lucite ovals in fuchsia are rocking my boat all over the place – they are stunning! Even my dog’s looking at the screen with a degree of excitement – and she NEVER does that, unless we’re watching the three head-tilting pugs on YouTube.

    Caro

  19. What a fun idea! Any of the beads you are offering would be fun to work with. Please count me in and please accept my gratitude to you for your generosity!!

  20. Count me in! I love Beads #1-Fushia is so beautiful and would work well for this time of year also. Such a cute idea and loads of fun.

    Linda
