Weekly Question

Is it November already?

Autumn’s flying, don’t you agree?

The Bead Challenge Photos are arriving daily. As soon as I receive a couple more (from overseas), I’ll unveil all of the entries. I think you’ll be pretty impressed! πŸ™‚

In the meantime . . .

How about a “Weekly Question”?

Throughout the early years of this blog, I used to ask a new question every Monday. Many of you told me you loved answering the questions and also reading all the replies.

So, today, I thought it would be fun to try it again! This one comes from my files. It’s based on an idea originally sent to me by Carol – in response to my call to readers for “topic suggestions”. πŸ™‚

“How did you meet your partner (mate, significant other, or whatever you call him or her) and what was your first date?”

Or, if you prefer a different question: Describe a favorite person in your life. What makes him or her so special?

I’ll add my answer in the comments section, soon!

Hugs,

  1. Yay, you’re back.

My fav question! How I met Terry. Simply put, it was a blind date on Feb 5, 1971. Dancing at the VFW. We were engaged two weeks later and married 6 months later on August 7. Its been 40 years now. I don’t think many couples today could pull this off. But SOMETIMES, the elements of the Universe come together and POW! And we won’t even TALK about how I knew him in a past life!

    Have a great week….Everyone!
    xx, Carol

  2. I ‘met’ hubby because he was my friend’s brother (1 year younger). I was in 8th grade and he was in 7th. What a pain in the butt – I didn’t like him, felt he was too brainy and serious. We knew each other in high school and I still didn’t care for him. He wouldn’t let me copy his answers from his chemistry lab book! We went off to differen colleges. Then one day I called him looking for his sister, who had married and moved away. He invited me to his college, for dinner. I came home that night and said “I’m gonna marry that guy!” He proposed a year later and we married two months later. Woohoo.

  3. I met my current hubby 18 years ago this coming Thanksgiving Day eve. I was in that post divorce rut and decided to go to a Jazz club with my best friend couple and my son and his fiance. My future hubby was working the door and as soon as I saw him I recognized him as an amazing spirit. We courted at the club over the next month and married two years later. We are perfect for each other and continue to be madly in love with each other. ;-p

  4. I met him at a drive in movie, he was there with a friend and another friend of mine. She introduced him to me and we hit it off right away. Our first date was bowling and pizza at the local pizza parlor named Imos. That was 31 years ago. It took us awhile (7) years to get married but we were only 16 when we met. Its funny how sometimes you just know thats the guy for you. I’m so blessed.

  5. Hi Kids πŸ™‚
Talk about sweet stories! I am loving reading each and every one of them!

I promised to add mine… and then I realized I had blogged about the beginnings of my romance with Sir Beads. Here’s the link: http://beadhappilyeverafter.com/blog/?p=14683

Our first date was to see the Beach Boys! It’s also a bit of a story – maybe a future blog post? πŸ˜‰

  6. Well the answer to both is i met my hubby on a blind double date.He was a foreign student studying in England and his parents finished their emigration papers for Canada when he finished college so i came with him and applied to stay in Canada when i got here.He is my best friend and soul mate of 25 years. We finish each others thoughts…My whole life has meaning because ive spent it with him.

  7. Everyone has such great stories! I loved reading them. What a testimony to the power of love and marriage. I have only been married to my husband for 7 years, but we do have a good story.
I actually met my husband when I was married to someone else. No, nothing happened!!! He was a friend of my current sister-in-law’s (and she is a good friend, too) then boyfriend (they are married now), so he would often be at the same parties, etc., so we had met. We were both in their wedding, I was a bridesmaid and he was a groomsman. He was actually the one to walk me out at the end of the wedding, so we joked when WE got married that he had already walked me down the aisle once!
ANYWAY, my marriage fell apart a few years later, and while I was in the middle of my divorce, my ex-sister in law (and STILL a great friend) kept saying, “you should go out with Peter….” I kept saying no, that I was not ready to date anyone. But months later, I saw him at a party that she threw. It was really awkward because she was trying to play matchmaker, and we were both embarrassed. I think we only said hi to each other. But a few days later, he called me and asked me out. He was so easy to talk to! We had a great time and talked forever. We got engaged 4 months later and were married 11 months after our first date. He truly is my soul mate.

  8. Love all of these happy stories!!

It’s been so long ago that I had to ask hubby if he remembered how we met back in 1962. He did and it is the same as I remembered. At a park in my hometown. He was visiting my town with some of his Air Force buddies (probably on the hunt for babes). They were stationed near by. He said I was coming out of church (the park was directly across the street). I guess the pink dress I had on caught his attention. πŸ˜€
