Crocodile Tears

Yep, I’m crying . . . well, not really (but I’d like to!).

I have been trying for two days to get a good picture of this bracelet.

It’s similar to one I made a couple of weeks ago, except this one has gorgeous vintage Czech Peacock Beads!

See the largest round ones? They have amazing facets that pick up a rainbow of color. I hesitate to even show this photo because it doesn’t come close to the beauty of the piece in real life. Grrr! πŸ˜‰

But you don’t want to hear me whine, and actually after telling you how frustrating it was – I feel so MUCH better. Thank you!

Feel free to tell me what’s bugging you.
After all, you listened to me sniffling – so I owe you one! πŸ˜€

Hugs,

Maid Wanted

Job Requirements:

Must do laundry
Wash floors
Clean Bathroom
Dust/organize all clutter
Cook
Food Shop
Do the bills
Smile while doing all of the above

This will allow the lady of the house to concentrate on making jewelry . . .

Like this, for example!

Hey, I can dream of having a maid, can’t I? πŸ˜‰

I loved making the above earrings – even though it meant I will have twice as much laundry to tackle today!

Smiles and hugs,

Giveaway – Candy Corn Earrings

August Greetings! πŸ˜€

Don’t worry! There’s still lots of time left for summer fun.

But…. Autumn is definitely on the way, so my August Giveaway has a fall-ish theme!

“Candy Corn” Earrings

DSCN4561

I’ve chosen some of my favorite beads for this design – they have sort of a subtle Autumn/Halloween flavor. Wouldn’t they be pretty to wear with a jacket done in earth tones?

The pumpkin-colored teardrop beads are Vintage Moonglow Lucite, and the very unique “candy corn” beads are Vintage Czech Glass (If you enjoy making jewelry, too, the candy corn beads are currently available in my bead shop).

The earrings measure a bold and beautiful 3″ in length – including the artisan-crafted earwires, which are sterling silver.

Contest Rules and How to Enter:

You can have multiple chances to enter!
Any day you leave a comment on this blog – it is counted as a chance to enter the current giveaway.

For example, if you answer today’s question (you’ll find it below!) that will give you one chance.

But if you then come back another day and comment on a different post – you will have earned a second chance! Visit again and comment and you’ll have 3 chances, and so on.

(When you comment, you do not have to mention that it’s an entry in the giveaway. My blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them, and all will count to be entered into the drawing!) πŸ˜€

Today’s question is:

Describe the closest thing to you, right this minute, that is red? (You might have to leave the room to find it.)

My answer: I love bright colors so I figured I would have something here on my computer desk, but nope! I finally spied my little red retractable tape measure on a shelf across the room! πŸ™‚

Summer’s Flying . . .

Greetings, Sweet Kids.
Here we are in the last week of July – already!

You’ve probably noticed that the Fall decorations are available in the stores now. How can that be?

There’s still swimming to be done. πŸ˜‰

In the words of Goldilocks,

I hope your weekend was ….

just right!”

Here at our place, we had a nice blend of busy and calm. One night, we went into the city to see our daughter’s band play at a local pub. She’s the drummer for the group, but she also sings. We love to hear them play and we’re glad she’s not embarrassed to have “the parental units” in attendance. πŸ˜‰

On Saturday, we visited my Mum & Dad. They’re still settling into their new place, and it’s really looking more and more like a home every time we see it. Sir Beads is a wiz at hanging drapery rods so he took care of that while we were there. They treated us to a delicious dinner to cap off the visit.

Sunday was a quiet day, which we actually enjoy. There’s nothing like a day with no plans to help you re-energise for another busy week! πŸ™‚

Just a reminder that the GIVEAWAY for July (click here to see it) ends soon (7/30) and all comments for this month count as entries.

Today’s question is:

~ How many hours of sleep per night do you need to function?

and

~ Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Beads – They’re not just for jewelry!

Hi πŸ™‚

I know that many of you make jewelry, but I also realize that many of you have never had the chance to learn.

Today, I’d like to show you a post where I discuss lots of creative things you can do with beautiful beads besides making jewelry! πŸ˜€

If you can sew on a button, or thread a needle, work with glue, or find a pretty little crystal dish around the house – you can have fun with beads.

As I say in the article: “Incorporating the artistry of beads into our everyday surroundings is a recipe for a smile.”
