Watching the Mail

I keep waiting for my invitation to the big wedding across the pond!

Surely Prince William and Lady Kate will be sending me one any day now. 😉

If they do, I’m ready for the festivities with these earrings!

Don’t they look like Sapphires and Platinum?

(click photo to enlarge)

I just finished them the other day and they feature Swarovski crystals in Sapphire Blue along with Czech Glass Silver Metallic Beads. The lever backs are sterling silver. Now available in my web shop!

Anyone else bothered by changes in weather? Lately, I seem to get a headache whenever the barometric pressure is high. What a nuisance!

Have a happy day 🙂

Christmas in March

Happy Monday, Kids 🙂

How was the weekend?

On Saturday, I finally used a gift card I’d almost forgotten about . . .

While Christmas shopping in December, I was at the check-out to pay when the clerk told me I had spent enough to qualify for a $20.00 gift card. I was totally surprised because first of all, I didn’t realize that they were having such a promotion, and secondly, I didn’t think I had spent enough to receive twenty dollars!

I’m ever the skeptic, so as she handed me the card I said: “Oh, I am guessing that I’ll have to spend a certain amount to be able to use this $20.00? Or perhaps it expires quite soon?”

“No, no, it’s as good as cash here at this store.” she answered.

So, this weekend I discovered the card tucked among a few sales receipts in my wallet, and decided I’d better spend it while I was thinking of it.

New towels seemed like a good idea as ours were beginning to look shabby. When I got to the mall, they happened to be on sale for half-price! 🙂

I can’t tell you how much fun it was to leave that store with a fairly large bag of pretty new towels – for FREE!

As I carried them to the car, it definitely felt like Christmas. In fact, I swear I heard Christmas Carols! 😉

Friday Funnies

TGIF! 😀

Shall we get into a festive weekend mood by kicking it off with a few funny children’s quotes?

As Billy and his Grandpa entered their vacation cabin, they kept the lights off until they were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed them in. Billy noticed them first and whispered, “It’s no use, Grandpa. The mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights.”

A mother and her young son returned from the grocery store and began putting away the groceries. The boy opened the box of animal crackers and spread them all over the table. “What are you doing?” his mother asked. “The box says you can’t eat them if the seal is broken,” the boy explained. “I’m looking for the seal.”

And finally, one from my own daughter… She was about age 5 or 6 yrs. old when I showed her an old photo album with pictures from my early childhood. She intently perused several pages of black and white photos and then stopped to ask: “So tell me Mom, just when exactly did the whole world become filled with colors?”

Have a super-special weekend, Kids!

A Dollar For Your Thoughts

The way I figure it, inflation has surely ruled out the old “penny” price for thoughts! 😉

So, by “your thoughts” I mean your answers to 5 questions . . .

I found a 20-question “meme” online and pared it down to a more manageable list for us. Feel free to copy and paste these into the comments section so you can answer too!

What is your favorite flavor of JELL-O?

Orange! I like it even better if fruit has been added.

Your prom night, what do you remember about it?

On the morning of the prom, my girlfriends and I went to a beauty salon to have our hair done in the latest fashion of the day. (We were so excited!) It was an upswept style that featured lots of “Grecian curls”. However, between the height of my hair and the shoes I wore, I ended up taller than my date!

My Dad had a creative solution though. When he took our picture as we were on our way to the event, he had us pose on the front steps with me standing one step lower than my boyfriend. Dad cropped the photo in such a way that you couldn’t tell we were standing at different levels.

Do you have any famous ancestors?

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned that I love genealogy and have spent a lot of time happily involved in searching for my roots. 🙂

To answer the question: I need to do more research to absolutely confirm it, but it appears that I may be related to Laura Ingalls Wilder through my great-great-grandmother!

How many different beverages have you had today?

Tea, milk, lemon seltzer, and water

Do you draw your name in the sand when you go to the beach?

No. I would be much more likely to either build a sand castle, or make little designs in the sand using my bare feet and toes. 😉

Your turn?

Lucky 7 March Edition

Let’s face it – March can be a dreary month.

It’s far enough away from December that the holiday festivities are just a fuzzy memory.

It can be cold and grey, and let’s not forget windy.

But if this seems like a negative post . . . no way!!! 🙂

For this edition of Lucky Seven I have:

7 Things To Love About March.

1. Spring arrives in March.
We all deserve a lovely spring after the winter we are experiencing.

2. The Crocuses bloom –
sometimes through the snow! Ours are purple and you know how I feel about purple. 😉

3. Hot Cross Buns
Whether you like them or not (I do, but wouldn’t mind if the candied fruits were omitted.), they’re a sure sign that March has arrived.

4. St Patrick’s Day
I’m part Irish and I was literally raised on my grandmother’s Irish bread. (story and recipe here) I’ve already stocked up on ingredients to make a lot of it this month!

5. My oldest daughter is a March baby.
It’s the month I became a mom. 🙂

6. March is the perfect time for adding a touch of spring to the front door.
I’m going to use this wreath for Spring 2011!

7. Daylight Savings Time begins in March
(March 13th to be exact for the U.S. and Canada) and who doesn’t love more hours of daylight!!!
