Show and Tell Tuesday

Welcome to this week’s Show and Tell Tuesday!

For a couple of years, now, I’ve known that Allison loves horses from comments she has left here on the blog. Recently though, she surprised me by sending this wonderful photo along with some background information on her experiences . . .

“This was taken a couple of years ago at a horse show. It is me on a horse named ‘Luca’.”

“He is a German Warmblood that some good friends of mine own and who were kind enough to let me ride and show. He was VERY fun to ride and we always placed very well. We were champions for the year at our local horse show association.
(in ’08, when this picture was taken)

I have been riding since I was 4 and showing almost as long. I love horse showing because it gives me something to work towards and I can judge my progress. You never stop learning with horses! I have not ridden in the past year (pregnancy + delivery), but once the weather warms up, I will be back in the saddle!!”

Thank you so much, Allison! It is a real treat to see you with your beautiful friend! 🙂

Show and Tell Tuesday

This week, I’m afraid you’re stuck with a Show and Tell Tuesday from me – same-old, same-old! 😉

But you Kids know I’d much rather have your photos! Remember, you can send pictures of anything you like – family, pets, back yard, favorite knick knack or collectible, craft project you are in the middle of (or have finished), last night’s dinner, book you’re reading, favorite snack, sentimental possession (Grandma’s brooch, etc.), the “bargain” you just purchased, or anything you just bought! Or none of the above – but something you choose! 🙂

I was sorting through some old photos and found these pictures of the little gift shop I had 20 years ago {Twenty??? thud! (I just fainted.)}.

Anyway, the shop was located in a refurbished barn. There were about 8 or 10 of us, each with our own section of a two-floor building. It was a charming mix of gifts, gourmet foods, and antiques. Country decor was very much in vogue at that time and my shop had quite a bit of it. A large proportion of my items were made by me, but I also had things on consignment from some wonderfully talented artisans.

Seeing this first photo reminds me of the fun I had during that time. Of course, it was also a lot of work to keep the shop stocked and looking pretty, but when you’re doing something you enjoy, you don’t really mind all the effort it requires.

Won’t you sign the Guest Book? 😉

Pillows and Quilting and Dolls – Oh My!

My mother made the large quilt. 🙂

Believe it or not, these Kitchen Angels were incredibly popular. I actually made hundreds of them during those years. One day, a lady came into the shop and bought all that you see in this photo. I was thrilled, needless to say!

More Cloth Dolls and Bunnies

My daughter pleaded with me not to sell the little doll with a bonnet (the one who’s holding a baby) – so I took her off the shelf after this photo was taken. That doll is here in the room with me now as I type – 20 years later! 😉

So, as Kevin Arnold (from The Wonder Years) would say . . . “And there you have it.”

Hope you liked my little gift shop show and tell.

Show and Tell Tuesday

Welcome to this week’s Show and Tell Tuesday!

Today, Michelle is sharing photos of her “furbabies”. She has 3 cats and a dog named “Crystal”! 🙂 I’ll let you read her words to describe them . . .

“My son rescued the 2 longhaired cats as kittens from the street; it was January in the snow. The poor things. I expected mangy flea ridden things when he asked to bring them home and instead he brought in these two amazing furballs.”

Eeyore is the grey, reminds me of a dumb bouncer or sports jock…not too smart. lol

Itachi means weasel in Japanese and he loves to steal pens and bring us toy mice as trophies. He swallowed some thread when he was 1 1\2 and we had to decide whether we could spend a fortune for an operation to save him. We did of course and he’s doing fine now but my craft/sewing room is off limits 🙂

The orange cat is O’malley, a rescue by my brother-in-law’s girlfriend, but then she found out she was allergic. He likes to sleep 23 out of 24 hours. When we accepted him he was infested with ear mites poor thing so we had him treated and now he wont leave my side when I sleep.

The lab is Crystal, named by my son when she was a puppy because she was “shiny and special”. For 12 years I ran a daycare and she would convert the non-dog lovers to the point that they would say “Hi and Bye” to her before me. She’s 13 now and on her last legs poor thing but hubby keeps hoping she’ll pass in her sleep so he doesn’t have to make the decision to take her to the vets.

They are expensive and are a nightmare for hair but they are also such a comfort when I am depressed or in pain from my fibromyalgia. Hubby even keeps the cat treats on his bedside table to treat them before we’ll go asleep. They are my furbabies 🙂 Kids and pets, both drive us crazy and steal our hearts!”

Thanks so much, Michelle. You sure have a bunch of cuties, there! 😀

Show and Tell Tuesday

Welcome to another edition of Show and Tell Tuesday!

We haven’t had any reader photos for a while, so I was excited to receive this note from Kelly the other day. 😀

Hi Crystal,
“I thought since I was always talking about my dogs and what I’m doing with them, that maybe you would like to showcase them on the blog on a Tuesday. Its fun to see all the pets. …. They are both real sweethearts… ”
~Kelly
