Show and Tell Tuesday

Welcome to this week’s Show and Tell Tuesday!

For a couple of years, now, I’ve known that Allison loves horses from comments she has left here on the blog. Recently though, she surprised me by sending this wonderful photo along with some background information on her experiences . . .

“This was taken a couple of years ago at a horse show. It is me on a horse named ‘Luca’.”

“He is a German Warmblood that some good friends of mine own and who were kind enough to let me ride and show. He was VERY fun to ride and we always placed very well. We were champions for the year at our local horse show association.
(in ’08, when this picture was taken)

I have been riding since I was 4 and showing almost as long. I love horse showing because it gives me something to work towards and I can judge my progress. You never stop learning with horses! I have not ridden in the past year (pregnancy + delivery), but once the weather warms up, I will be back in the saddle!!”

Thank you so much, Allison! It is a real treat to see you with your beautiful friend! 🙂

  2. What a great picture. The horse is beautiful. And Allison is so professional looking.
I hope you have this pix framed in your house. It’s awesome.

  3. Allison, you look great riding Luca. For a minute there I thought I was looking at a still from a movie. Maybe your little one will love horses as much as you do.

Thanks for the Show and Tell.

  4. Allison, you and Luca make a beautiful team! My goodness, isn’t he just gorgeous!!!
Congratulations on your ’08 championship…how exciting that must have been! 😀

  5. Thanks everyone for all the sweet comments & to Crystal for posting my picture!

Ever since I was tiny I LOVED horses. I begged to ride as soon as I could talk. My parents are both non-horse people but were very supportive. At one point, my sister and I had 5 horses between us. I still, to this day, have never had a non-horsey job.
Riding is now something that I do for ME, it is actually very relaxing for me to be on a horse. (I promise, I do not get on the crazy wild ones anymore! I had too many bad experiences when I was younger and life is too short to get hurt on a horse. I do like a challenge, just not a dangerous one)
Hopefully, when the weather gets better I will get back riding again. (I do go to the barn nearly every day though, I work part time for my friends that own a stable so I do get my horse “fix”!) More snow is predicted for Memphis tomorrow! It has been a strange winter here.

By the way, Kelly, I have a dentist appointment tomorrow!! Hopefully no toothaches for me!

  6. Thanks for adding more of the story, Allison! 🙂

It is fascinating reading for this girl (me!), who only dreamed about riding the horses she read about in her story books.
