It’s Around the Corner . . .

Hey there, everyone!

Hope you had a sparkling 4th of July weekend. 😀

Can you believe the stores are already stocking items for another holiday that’s on the horizon?

Uh-huh. Halloween!

Today’s edition of Show and Tell Tuesday will fit right in with that theme . . .

A few weeks ago, we were reminiscing with our oldest daughter about some Halloween costumes we helped her to make around the time she became a teenager.

Her school sponsored an annual Halloween Dance, which included a contest for best costume. She loved the event. Although we all contributed to the finished projects, her Dad (a.k.a. Sir Beads) did a lot of the work on these . . .

Here’s his “washing machine” – made with a sturdy carton and recycled styrofoam! There’s even a battery-operated light with an on/off switch!

Don’t you just love it? 😀

Next, we have a slice of pizza. Fabric-covered cardboard, designed to sit on the shoulders, “sandwich board”-style. 😀

This was during the late 1980’s. As I recall, neither costume won, but they were a hit nonetheless. The washer is long gone, but we think the slice of pizza may be packed away in the basement.

In any event, I’m so glad we still have the pictures.

They make our hearts smile!

Hugs,

  1. Talking about Halloween already. The year is marching on. I made a few cute costumes in my day, but my daughter who does NOT craft has made the best. She never used a pattern and sewed by hand. Those boys have been elephants, pizzas, cheerleaders, and of course LOTS of spooky “beings”. One of my very favorite holidays, but not thinking too much about it yet.

I’m enjoying a week at home. I could get USED to this!
    xx, Carol

  2. My sister has spina bifida and has always been in a wheelchair so the best halloween costume we ever saw was covering her in cereal boxes etc so she was “meals on wheels”.

    🙂

  3. Greetings Michelle,
What a wonderfully creative idea! 🙂
Hope you are having fun this summer working on your cards and other crafts.

  4. I like the pizza costume. I love halloween and also the Jingle Bell dog walk so I can dress up Kouga. He loves to go trick or treating at the local dog bakery. I think its because he gets so much attention. I come up with the costume ideas and my cousin helps me make the costume. I cannot paint or draw so Jim does that part.

My dog group has a meeting tomorrow to discuss and plan the Canine Games. We are already planning for October too. Time has really flown this summer. I hope everyone had a great 4th. I loved the fireworks at the local park.

  5. Hi Kelly,
I thought of you when I was writing this post because I know the fun you and Kouga have with costumes! 😀
He is such a cute fella – not only allowing you to dress him up, but also enjoying it, too!

When is the next bike trip?
