Don’t Mention It

Some days, life is just the same old, same old . . .

You know – nothing exciting going on. It’s been that way here for the last few days. I’m not complaining at all. I actually like it when things are relatively calm. The problem is that “calm” sometimes means it’s tough to come up with a new blog post . . .

I decided not to mention that I went to the dentist on Friday and I could almost see the dollar signs in his eyes as he said the word “crown”.

I decided not to mention that I popped into a local bead store to buy a tool I needed and couldn’t resist buying a couple of strands of pretty beads – even though I have my own bead shop with lots of gorgeous beads!

I decided not to mention that I wasn’t in the mood to make dinner on Sunday night – so I picked up one of those rotisserie chickens at the deli counter of our supermarket. I hesitated because the last couple of times I bought one, it wasn’t very good. But this time, it was extra delicious! Maybe they had complaints?

I decided not to mention that we recently saw the movie, “It’s Complicated”. Did we like it? Well… it’s complicated. 😉 (In other words, wait until it’s on TV, for free.)

I decided not to mention that unless somebody invents a 28-hour day very soon, I am never going to get caught up on what I want to do, should do, and have to do!

I decided I *must* mention that I have the nicest, smartest, most interesting blog readers – anywhere!

It’s true. 😀

Oops she did it again

I swear I’m going to fire that Laundry Fairy!

I left her a note before I went to bed last night . . .

but she let me down – AGAIN!

Look at what I found this morning!!!

You can probably guess what I’ll be trying to finish, today. 😉

I realize it’s tough enough to find time for laundry – never mind reading! But summer is knocking on the door, and there will be times when it’s too hot to do anything but read!

Maybe you’ll spend a day at the beach or beside the pool, and you’ll be looking for a good book!

Well, there’s a great list of suggestions in the sidebar here on the blog. Look under “Info”, then click “Summer Reads”, and you’ll find a selection of titles sent in last summer.

If you have any new recommendations, I’ll be glad to add them to the top of the list! 😀

So just when did I become a curmudgeon?

You know me. I’m a girl who loves to put a happy spin on things!!! 😀

And I continually remind myself to appreciate all of life’s blessings.

But, I am human, and lately there are times I don’t seem to have the patience I had when I was younger.

It puzzles me that some stuff, which wouldn’t have made much of an impression on me in the past, seems to annoy me now.

You’re saying: “Ok, Crystal! Deep breath. Calm down. Have a cup of tea.

Hee hee 😉

Well, I do wonder . . .

· What is the dentist’s office thinking when they call and change my already scheduled appointment – not once, not twice, but three times within a month!!! Doesn’t that just scream “Our convenience is SO much more important than yours.”?

· Why is it that our neighbor usually decides to mow his yard (with a ride-on mower that is SO noisy – the whole neighborhood needs ear plugs!) at the precise moment we are putting the first forkful of dinner to our lips? Nothing like feeling as if you’re having a meal on an airport runway!

· Why is it that banks, retail stores, and credit card companies are allowed to automatically share our information with “whomever” – unless we “opt out” by writing a *snail mail* letter, saying “no thanks”. Shouldn’t it be that they automatically do not have permission unless we “opt in”?

· Why is it that when I see a shirt I love – the store is out of my size, and my size only!?!

OK, that’s enough!

You’ll be calling me [Andy] Andrea Rooney, here! 😉

Seriously though, is it just me?

Is there something that makes you go “Hmmm…” ?

Dear Sir or Madam

I hesitate to say this, because I can get myself in a pickle faster than you can snap your fingers! 😉

Well, assuming you CAN snap your fingers! That’s a “skill” I didn’t acquire until I was a young adult.

Ummm, where was I?

Oh yes! I was going to say that from now on I would like to answer your comments (if I have an answer) right in the space where your comment shows on this blog.

This doesn’t mean that I will never send an email. It’s just that when I’m reading your comments, it is much faster for me to start typing right then and there, instead of going to a new screen to compose an email.

I wanted to mention this because I worry that you might otherwise never realize that I’ve responded. So maybe when you visit, you could take a peek at your previous comment to see if there was a reply?

But, here’s where the “pickle” comes in . . .

Sometimes, I run out of time, and I would HATE for anyone to be offended that I answered one person and not another! Spamgirl said I am very diplomatic, which made me giggle, but she pretty much hit the nail on the head. I do really care about the feelings of others.

Would you promise to understand that some days writing a post for the following day is the priority? 😀

P.S. I don’t know if it’s because I had a break from writing last week, or because I’m answering multiple questions this week on the Monday post, but I fear I am getting too wordy lately! I’ll try to rein myself back in, soon. 😉

Tuesday Talk

You guys are wonderful. 🙂

The questions you’re asking are so varied and so interesting!

Please don’t think I am showing any favoritism! I’m not answering them in any particular order. I’ve discovered that writing the answers is almost like writing a blog post.

So far, I’ve just been grabbing the ones that seemed quickest to answer – sort of like taking an exam in school. Did you ever look over the whole test quickly and then begin by filling in the ones you knew best? 😉

I might make a couple of the answers into separate blog posts, not because those questions are better, but because I think the answers would resonate with many of you.

In other news, I have a book and a movie recommendation for you.

If you like historical fiction, Cleopatra’s Daughter by Michelle Moran is “a good yarn” (as my grandmother used to say). It’s light enough for bedtime reading, which is a good thing because squeezing in a chapter before bed is about all there’s time for some days. Clenna suggested this book to me and I’m so glad she did. I am embarrassed to say I didn’t realize that Cleopatra and Marc Antony had children! This is their tale.

Last week we saw Crazy Heart. It was a bit intense in parts, but I can see why Jeff Bridges won the Oscar for his role. Maybe because I grew up during the Rolling Stones/Beatles era, I have not always been a major fan of country music, but I really enjoyed the music in this movie!

Got a book or a movie to suggest, by any chance? 😀
