I’m A Little Bit Vintage

Raise your hand if you remember Donny and Marie? ;-)

And their theme song?

You know —

She’s “a little bit country”; He’s “a little bit “rock and roll”.

C’mon Kids… please say you know what on earth I’m talking about, here.

(For you youngsters in the group – it’s Donny and Marie Osmond!)

I can hear you asking: “Surely there’s a point to this, Crystal???”

curlyline

Why, yes. Of course! ;-)

If I were to join the chorus along with good ole Donny and Marie, I’d be singing: “I’m a little bit “vintage”.

I’m not referring to my age – though I suppose that’s a good adjective to describe it. I mean that I have a passion for all things vintage – beads, jewelry, books, accessories, china, furniture, etc.!

This week, I took some time to play with a pretty bunch of Vintage Swarovski Rhinestones and Cabochons. I combined them with some vintage-look findings and quick as a wink – I had 3 pairs of earrings!

Sapphire Blue – such sparkle on these vintage rhinestones!

Amethyst purple – my favorite color! Love that marquise-shape stone.

And Swarovski Glass Cabochons in Smoked Topaz Aurora Borealis. Talk about a rainbow of colors!

If you were to chime in with Donny and Marie…. how would you fill in the blank?

“I’m a little bit “_______”.

Hugs,

The Envelope, Please!

Hey Kids,
Here I am in the wee hours of the morning writing this quick post! There’s a major snow storm heading our way and I want to be sure to announce the winner of the GIVEAWAY – while I still can. You see, this weather system is threatening to deliver high winds, widespread power outages, and up to 2 feet of snow!

And the winner is . . .

I love giveaways because it’s so much fun to make someone happy!

I don’t like giveaways because I hate disappointing everyone who didn’t win. :(

Well, ok, here goes . . .

The winner, chosen at random, of the Evening in Paris Earrings is Kelly! :-D

Congratulations Kelly, and a big thank you to all who entered and offered their suggestions for future posts.

Have a relaxing weekend and please cross your fingers that we don’t lose our power, won’t you?

I’ll be back with a new post early (hopefully!) next week.

Hugs,

Evening in Paris – Giveaway

When I was an unsophisticated little girl, I believed that the most glamorous, luxurious, perfume a lady could ever own was “Evening in Paris“.

It was sold at Woolworth’s, a 5 and 10 Cent store, so it was definitely affordable for adults, but I remember hoping, during a Christmas season long ago, that I’d be able to scrape together enough of my weekly allowance to buy a small bottle for my Mom . . . (I did!)

Who knows if it actually smelled all that great but there was something enchanting about that cobalt blue bottle with it’s ultra sleek shape. Oh la la! (At least it was to a kid whose age was still a single digit.)

I know. You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this walk down memory lane….

Well, after I finished making these earrings, I was suddenly reminded of the perfume, so naming them was a given. And speaking of “given” – how about a GIVEAWAY! :-D

A Girl’s Best Friend

Greetings Kids!
You’re probably in a flurry of activity as we approach “crunch time” for holiday preparations. I know I am, and I thought we could all use a little breath of fresh air in the form of some pretty jewelry to ooh and aah over.

As the song goes, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” But, you know what? I believe ALL jewelry falls under that category! ;-)

Today, I have some exquisite creations from etsy artist, MrsJabberJaw to show you! (Don’t you just love her name?)

Mrs. J. designs extraordinary things. I met her when she visited my bead shop for some Vintage Swarovski Cabochons, which she then incorporated into her work.

Take a peek below to see her beautiful results…

Talk about glamour!

And a beautiful necklace….

Even more gorgeous up close!

Currently, MrsJabberjaw is having a “fundraiser” in her etsy shop to raise money for her puppy who needs an operation. The prices are amazing for this event – so be sure to stop by!

After all, even Santa (a.k.a – you!) deserves a treat now and then!

I hope to be back by Friday with a new post, so I’ll see you then!

Hugs and smiles,

Last Minute Me

Happy Monday, Kids!

Whew, I’m out of breath from running . . .

Not really – but I am just barely getting in under the wire for this week’s Make somethin’ Monday post. ;-)

In my defense, it’s not that I haven’t been trying. I actually have 3 things in progress.

“That doesn’t count, Crystal. You need to have one finished.”

Well, luckily I just completed these!

Measuring 2-1/4″ long, these dangle earrings feature Tanzanite Aurora Borealis Swarovski Crystals in a medley of shapes and sizes.

I’m thinking they’d be a fab holiday gift for someone on your list . . . or maybe for you? :-)

P.S. Sending a great big thank you for the sweet comments and emails I received last week regarding the Cup of Bead Soup Design Challenge.

I truly do have the best blog buddies out there!

Hugs,
