Friday Favorites – Magnolia and Irises

Art is the subject of this week’s Friday Favorites. ๐Ÿ™‚

Although I love all kinds of art, I must admit that I never looked very closely at the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany until my youngest daughter became an enthusiastic fan.

Here’s a beautiful example of why I should have paid attention much sooner! I can really get lost looking into this scene. And the fact that I love irises is just icing on the cake.

Have fun this weekend, everyone! See you all Monday with the new questions!

Friday Favorites – We’re All Artists!

For this week’s Friday Favorites, I have a special little quotation for you!

I often think of this when I’ve made something that didn’t turn out as well as I hoped it would. The words are encouraging and remind me to try again, instead of saying: “I’m just not good at this.” ๐Ÿ™‚

picasso

Isn’t that the truth!!! As children, we are sure that our “art” is wonderful. We have that total sense of confidence. So I figure if I was an “artist” once – it’s still in there. All I have to do is keep trying!

Enjoy this last weekend of summer! Meet ya back here on Monday for a new giveaway and new questions!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Painting with fabric . . . Hereโ€™s a gorgeous example of how a home accessory can truly be a work of art. Wool pumpkins have been hand pieced and applied with a blanket stitch to soft 100% wool fabric. Hand embroidered with a variety of stitches that include: Moss stitch, Spider web, Filling stitch, French knots, Raised chain band, Couching and Fly stitch. The Pillow edge is trimmed using a glass beaded blanket stitch. From ThreeSheepStudio

“Illuminated Jack-O-Lanterns”

Wouldn’t this print be just the thing to display near your doorway to welcome any ghosts or goblins this season? The scene is a pumpkin patch with a row of jack-o-lanterns that appear to be glowing amidst fallen leaves. Bare trees & foliage are silhouetted against the eerie night skyโ€ฆ

Adorable, yes? It will be a trick to keep this treat away from friends and family who will want to โ€œborrow” it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is a fused art glass pendant which was designed, cut, fused, and annealed by the artist in her home studio.

Friday Favorites – Pumpkin Pendant

pumpkinpiessignIt’s Friday and you know what that means . . .

Yep, Friday Favorites! ๐Ÿ˜€

These are my favorite beads at the moment! (currently available in my shop).

They’re vintage lucite. Don’t they look like little pumpkins?

Of course I just had to make something with them right away, so I made a pair of earrings that will be next week’s giveaway! They’ll be the perfect accent for an autumn outfit.

Next, I made a dangling pendant . . .

Whether it’s worn up high on the neck or worn long – I’m thinking it looks best on a simple black cord.
