54 Shopping Days Until . . .

Christmas!

1st Ornament for 2010
made with Swarovski Crystals and Pearls

Ok, ok – before you throw a sneaker at the screen, let me quickly say that I am not rushing the season.

In fact, I really don’t like to blog about Christmas before Halloween is officially over . . .

but since most of us are probably eating the leftover candy by now, I figure it’s safe to broach the topic. ๐Ÿ˜‰

54 days is really not as long as it sounds.

“What”? (You scoff.)

I’m serious. Doesn’t it seem as if we just turned the calendar to September?

Uh-uh . . . that was 61 days ago! So, if you want to make a few gifts or maybe some ornaments, or you have packages to mail – it’s not too early to get going!

Who am I trying to convince, here, you or myself?

Both, actually! ๐Ÿ˜‰ (I definitely need to get busy a.s.a.p!)

weekly question:

Are you a Christmas elf? Do you like to start early or do you thrive on the last minute holiday rush?

Hugs,

54 Shopping Days Until . . . — 11 Comments

  1. I start early! If I wait I always fear that something will happen and I can’t get out to finish up (like a snow storm, car problems, illness, etc) I already have a few things (Grand daughter done!, others – started)

  2. Ha
You’re funny. Of course I’m an elf that never has enough time and I’m down to the wire (christmas eve) wrapping.

Well, the plan is tonight to gather my blue yarn and see what kind of afghan I can come up with for my favorite deli clerk at Walmart. I made her a scarf last year and her 3 year old grandson asked for one too. So I tought I’d do a mini version for him.

That’s as far as I got so far. Will definitely get the yarn together tonight. I am making presents from my stash this year!! Yay!!

  3. I started my ornaments in the last month. I didn’t dare blog about them till today either though! I like to pretend I’m a Christmas elf, but really I just come up with all sorts of great ideas really early and never end up getting them done… I sure try hard though – that’s all that counts right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. I used to start by june but then i was sewing outfits as gifts for all my daycare kids. This year i no longer work and we are broke from renovating our home so i think we are opting out of christmas this year ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I start the day after christmas. The sales are great and I have shelves in the basement to store it.

I have already removed the Halloween decorations and put up the Thanksgiving ones.

For me the Holidays start at Oct 1, so I can get ready for Halloween.

Today is Give Up Your ‘shoulds’ Day
Tomorrow is election day & National Deviled Egg day. (I’m not touching that)
11/3 is Sandwhich day, if you don’t like sandwhiches you could always celebrate with a sandwhich cookie.
11/4 National men make dinner day (OOOHH, I like this one already)
    11/5 National Donut Day

  6. Hi Kelly

Since today is “Give Up Your โ€™shouldsโ€™ Day” . . .

Does this mean that in today’s post, I “shouldn’t” have said we “should” get moving on our Christmas plans? ๐Ÿ˜‰ LOL

  7. I said “NO WAY” out loud twice while reading this post! I can’t believe there are ONLY 54 shopping days left, and has it really been 61 days since the start of September…already?!!! Good grief girl…I’ve GOT to get busy…and quick! I promised myself to be just about done by 11/1…fingers crossed! Well, my sweet girl…you managed to get my heart pounding a bit faster with this post. Ahhhh!!! xoxo’s Paulette

  8. …good grief, girl! …you got me so nervous I forgot to say how BEAUTIFUL your ornament is! I’m sooo sorry…I just love it, Crystal! xoxo’s

  9. Ok, the ornament’s lovely, and I know I gotta start getting my shop in shape…

But I do NOT celebrate Christmas until after Thanksgiving. We were given Thanksgiving for a reason, and that was to give us a reason to not have another Civil War. True! Plus that way Christmas can have my total dedication for an entire month. Christmas Spirit is not to be trifled with!

  10. I’m not a Christmas person at all anymore, I use to be in the holiday spirit and start early, but as the years have gone by and everyone in the family has gotten older and the child has grown up and there are no more little ones in the family I just feel blah about it and seem to always do last minute shopping now because teens are so difficult to shop for! And I hate stores and the crowds, even to just go to the store for a bottle of shampoo can be a nightmare since people are pushy and grouchy, I think since the economy has gotten bad alot of people have lost the true meaning of what christmas is about, and its not about who can buy the most stuff….
