Crocheted Flowers Update

There’s progress on the flowers for the shawl I have planned.

With 16 complete – I’m 1/3 of the way there! πŸ˜€

I still need to weave in the loose ends on a few of these. And I think I’ll eventually want to “block” all of them (lightly mist and pin the edges flat).

For now though, I’m having a ball watching things begin to take shape!

Most years, I stop knitting and crocheting during the summer months. The reason is simple . . . it’s just too hot. As a project gets bigger and bigger – it ends up on my lap and who needs a yarn “blanket” when it’s 90ΒΊ?

But, these flowers are fairly small (approx. 4-1/2″ diameter), so there will be no problem.

I will, however, wait for a *cool* day to assemble the shawl because I’m pretty sure I’ll want to try it on immediately after it’s finished! πŸ˜‰

Have you thought of something fun that you’d like to work on this summer?

  1. Well, I don’t knit. I wish I could gather enough time to sit down and teach myself lacey knitting. I CAN knit and purl so I just need to take the next step. But I go for the quick gratification my sewing machine brings.

Your flowers are beautifully colorful. Flowers are all over the net so you are in high fashion!!

Sorry Crissie, if you don’t have it yet, 90 degree weather is headed your way! Yeah ME!!

    Have a great day!!

  2. Those flowers are so pretty!!
    I love the color combinations.

The only thing that I have planned to do is to start riding again! A boy my at barn is going away for about 6 weeks and I said I would keep his horse exercised. He has a very nice horse, so it will be a pleasure! I have not ridden in about a year and a half so I expect to be quite sore for a while. πŸ™‚

  3. Allison,
What a lucky coincidence that it’s summer, you are ready to ride again, and there’s a horse available!
Yipee! I’m so happy for you. πŸ™‚

  4. Oh yes, Carol,
Some day, you’ll pick up knitting in a flash. You already know the basics and, as you say, it’s just having the time. πŸ™‚

  5. I’m taking a stats class for the next 6 weeks, then after class is over I’m off to Pella, Iowa for the Harley Rally. The rental house is almost finished. My rescue group has a meeting this month to plan for the Canine games our largest fundraiser.

I cannot wait to see the completed shawl, those flowers are absolutely adorable. I would want to wear it immediately too since it will be so unique and pretty.

    Today’s Celebrations:
6/7 National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

  6. Just beautiful!! Thanks for the progress report. Have you thought of what special occasion you will wear your shawl and what outfit?

Kelly Ann, I missed National Chocolate Ice Cream Day yesterday. How about I celebrate it today? πŸ˜€
