When it comes to colors, I can be a bit inconsistent . . . my favorites are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
While I absolutely love the bright jewel tones of purple, royal blue and red, I also like more muted colors . . . and even neutrals – like taupes and greys.
This Necklace is a combination of my preferences. It has my favorite color – purple, but it’s a muted shade of purple, sort of lilac or a pale tanzanite hue.
The larger beads are Vintage Lucite.
They have a mottled effect on their surface in varying intensities of light purple and splashes of muted gold. The soft shading would remind you of the techniques that Monet and other Impressionist painters used in their work.
I also added Czech Fire polished crystals to this design. Youβll notice that one side of the bead is transparent and the other side is coated in a shiny metallic.
As always, this piece is so much prettier in person. Jewelry was truly meant to be viewed in 3-d, not in a photograph. π
Have a fantastic weekend, Kids!
Letβs all meet back here on Monday, ok? π
Hugs,
I love those big pretty beads. My favorite bracelets are the big clunky ones. Hubs says I like big things because I have “little dog syndrome” the syndrome where little people (I’m 5 foot tall) thinks they can do anything that big people can (crafts are not included)! I just admire everyone elses’ talents.
This weekend I will be taking Kouga to the dog wash, which benefits a local rescue group. I will be having refreshments while I pay them $15 dollar to wash and dry my 88 pound dog. Its the best deal going, and Kouga is a sweetie so I don’t have to worry about him biting someone.
Stay warm and dry everyone. Happy Weekend.
Crystal says: Hi Kelly,
I’m smiling at your hubby’s description of “little dog syndrome”! π
Will Kouga get a bow after the “spa” treatment? It sounds like a triple win – a bath for Kouga, refreshments for you, and money for the local rescue group!!
I love the muted colors. This is one of my favorites!
Crystal says: Hi Clenna!
Hope you’re feeling lots better today! π
This is such a pretty one Crystal! I love the lucite beads (and of course, purple is my favorite too!)
Crystal says:
Hi Jenny π
Yay purple! It’s fun to know you love it too!
Your necklace is beautiful!! Nice touch adding gold bead caps. And I love your hook closure. I need to start using more like that in my jewelry designs.
Guess what? My beads arrived today. All wrapped in purple tissue paper and a cute purple flower sticker. Thanks much for the super fast shipping.
Crystal says:
Hey Donna π
I like the hook closures because I think they are easy for people to work with. Nothing more frustrating than a tiny lobster claw clasp that keeps closing before you can get it fastened!
I’m so glad to hear the beads arrived safe and sound. I think there was a lot of snowy weather going on between your house and mine!
Oh wow! This is beautiful. I really like it and think it will make someone look as pretty as a princess!
Crystal says: Hi there, Yona!
What a sweet thing to say! Thank you π
If i had to say a favorite i’d say red or lavender…but i think i like all colours at different times or for different things. Especially as a crafter its hard to pick one colour isnt it?Or is it just me lol.
Crystal says: Hi there, Michelle!
Oh, I definitely agree with you that being a crafter makes it very easy to love lots of colors! π
And don’t you find that sometimes you will experiment with combinations of colors and discover something you LOVE but had never thought of before? Will you make Valentines with your Cricut Expression? π
That is so incredibly beautiful! I can’t even imagine how much more gorgeous it might be in person!
Crystal says:
Greetings Mujercita! π
How are you? Are you having fun knitting new projects now that holidays are over?
Thank you for your compliments! I’m so glad my photo captured enough of the beauty of this piece that it came across on screen!
This is gorgeous! You have such an eye for putting everything together so beautifully!
Gosh, that color is heavenly!
