Want to feel as relaxed as a strand of “al dente” spaghetti?
Listen to music! š
Yesterday I was working on a jewelry order and decided to load the CD player instead of turning on the radio. I chose a very varied selection of genres from rock to classical to pop to easy listening. By the time, I finished beading, I was feeling incredibly relaxed and refreshed!
Of course we all know that music is good for you. Itās a well-established fact. There are even quotes about it. Youāre probably familiar with the old expression: “Music soothes the savage beast”. (The original quote is “Music has charms to soothe a savage breast.” (spoken by “Almeria” in Act I of The Mourning Bride by English poet William Congreve.)
But after my experience yesterday, I decided to delve further and was interested to learn of recent studies, which suggest that music has an intense effect on both body and mind. Some hospitals are even using āmusic therapyā as an aid in healing. The benefits include lowering blood pressure, boosting immunity and easing muscle tension. With those attributes, no wonder music can be an important tool to help the body stay or become healthy!
If youāre looking for something different next time you buy a CD, try Linda Ronstadtās āCry like a Rainstorm – Howl like the Windā. The duets with Aaron Neville, alone, are worth the price. I just played it and Iām feeling oh so āal denteā right now ā awake but very relaxed. š
Is there a CD you’d recommend to the rest of us that either helps you relax… or never fails to brighten your day?
Have a delightful weekend, Kids! Since Monday is a holiday, I’ll see you bright and early on Tuesday. š
Hugs,
I love Christina Aguillera’s Ain’t no Other Man and “Candy Man” I don’t know why but I love those songs.
I like anything by Bob Marley but especially the greatest hits cd. Triumph and Asia also help me focus and bring me out of the dumps if I’m feeling down.
For a totally different genre I like the Anime CD Soundtrack called the Inuyasha OST Best Album. It is Japanese so most people wouldn’t be interested but I love it and understand alot of it too.
I am a fan of Enya and Josh Groban for relaxing music…
Thanks, Cindi
I don’t use music to relax. I just never have. I prefer jivin’ music…Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynard Skinard, Santanta, Nickleback, Evaniescence.
Sorry, I had to steal the frog.
Yay, I am on vacation too until Wednesday!!
Have a great holiday weekend.
xx, Carol
I love Loreena McKennitt’s The Visit. It never fails to relax me.
Hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend, Crystal!! Praying that the hurricane won’t come your way.
I don’t have a CD to recommend, but I want to feel like that frog in the picture (smile). Have a fabulous Labor Day weekend!
Oh that frog is just the cutest little thing! I betcha he’s a prince just laying there waiting to be kissed by a princess!
Carly Simon’s Coming Around Again has always been a favorite. Not only is the title song beautiful, but there are lots of other great songs on there as well.
xo Paulette
WOW I was scrolling down reading the comments to post my choice and found that my fav is also Paulette’s. I love listening to Carly Simon any time and also Bette Midler and Barbra Streisand and occasionally I love listening to some of the Beatles, hmm quite varied but it’s all music so excuse me Mr Shakespeare if I use your words and say “Play on, give me excess of it”!
Loved your relaxed frog pic : )
