Counting Our Blessings

Hi Kids,
Hope you enjoyed the weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚ We had a party!

I’ve mentioned that my Mum and Dad have their 60th wedding anniversary coming up soon (Sept. 2nd).

Because it will fall on a weekday, we had the celebration on Saturday (which coincidentally is the date I married Sir Beads way back when.) But, this year, Aug. 28th belonged to Mum and Dad!

Our daughter hosted a lovely party in her sweet little home. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful summer day! There was good food, lots of laughter, and much love. How blessed we all felt to be able to share such a special occasion! The memory will surely be etched in our hearts, forever.

There was a cake, of course! It was decorated with hydrangeas, one of my parents’ favorite flowers. The blue/violet blooms remind them of Cape Cod.

The clear baubles you see above are acrylic “diamonds’! LOL Since the 60th is the diamond anniversary, these plastic sparklers were playfully strewn on tables throughout the room.

And it appears that 60 years of marriage can be good for one’s health! Can you believe they are 84 and 80 years old? And isn’t it sweet that he has his arm around her as they are about to cut the cake? ๐Ÿ™‚

After 60 years, 6 kids, and 11 grandkids, they’re still smiling.

The day flew by, but there was a treat to take home!

For “party favors”, we ordered the cutest little cupcakes – each with miniature hydrangeas on top. (I wonder how many of them actually made it all the way home!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hugs,

  1. It looks like they were having a good time. My parents have been gone for a long time. Thirty years for my mom and 25 for my dad. I can’t believe its that long!

You ARE very blessed to still have them. I feel sure they feel blessed to have each other and their wonderful children and grandchildren.

Knowing you, I am sure that celebrating THEIR anniversary was YOUR best anniversary gift of all.

Much love to you, Crissie. Relax and take a breath.
    xx, Carol

  2. What a lovely couple. They are so lucky to still have each other.

BTW Congratuations to you and Sir Beads too.

    Many more to both couples.

  3. Wow 60 years! Sounds like your family had a great weekend, the cake sure looks pretty (and yummy) and your parents look really happy and I would of never guessed that they were in their 80’s!

  4. How sweet that they (your parents) are still so much in love after all these years. I’m so glad that you had a perfect day for the party. Now you can start planning your anniversary. I know you will come up with some creative ideas.

This week National toasted Marshmellow day is the 30th, we celebrate Toy Test day on the 1st, and National Lazy Mom’s day on Friday. Personally, I don’t know a lazy mom, so who knows where they came up with this one.

Here’s a toast (maybe even a marshmellow) to all of the hardworking moms out there who make it possible for the household and the workplaces to run efficiently, smoothly and keep their heads when everyone else around them is loosing theirs.

  5. Oh Crystal!!! That is SO sweet. I hope to be there in 50 years, we just celebrated our 10 year anniversary earlier this year. What a wonderful joy it is to see that they are so in love with each other still. It brings a smile to my face seeing how sweet they look together and knowing that is where I will be in 50 years. =D

  6. Beautiful photos of an amazing couple on a perfect day! Thanks for all you did to make it happen and a very Happy Anniversary to you too!
