Sir Beads and I just LOVE bread!

If you’ve seen the movie, Forrest Gump, you may remember how Forrest’s friend Bubba recited a huge list of shrimp dishes:

“… shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad…”

I could do the same with bread. 😉

There’s Irish bread, Italian bread, French Bread, oatmeal bread, 12-grain bread, rye bread, brown bread, pumpernickel bread, sourdough bread . . . and so many more!

Recently, we bought some of our favorite bread.

There’s a church in our area that has a fundraiser twice a year. During that time, they take orders for an incredibly delicious home baked treat called “Portuguese Sweet Bread”. The church is swamped with requests, and then a few weeks later; it’s delivery day!

Sir Beads is able to order several loaves from church members who happen to work with him at his company. It seems most people buy in quantity. We all know it will be months before it’s available again and it freezes well. I usually cut the loaves in half before placing them in ziplock freezer bags.

But oh my goodness, we are in heaven when we cut that first slice . . .

Do you like bread, too? What kind? 🙂

  1. yummmm. And you put REAL butter on it too! I remember what that is!

I never met a bread I didn’t like. My very favorite is salt rising when its fresh from the oven. Its not the same once it cools. But for every day bread, I like bread with grains…like 7 or 12 grain. I like bagels like that too.

You have my mouth watering for special bread.

    xx, Carol

  2. Oh man, I LOVE bread! My favorite is pumpkin bread. I love when fall comes around and I can make it. I like to make it from scratch (no canned pumpkin for me!) at least once a year in huge batches, since it freezes so well…

  3. I too love breads. But I just found out my daughter is allergic to yeast. So we didn’t even have biscuits on Easter. Now I have to look for flat breads for her. (they are just not as good as those yummy yeast risen breads)

  4. I like a asiago cheese bread, homemade biscuits, and cinnamon raisin bread.
Garlic bread with cheese is wonderful too.

  5. Ugh! I’m living gluten-free, and when I have cheated and had a little bread, it doesn’t even taste good anymore– my body’s not used to it. It’s like eating paste. Which was very weird, because I remember what it was to like bread, back in Ye Olden Times…but now there’s just no appeal at all. It still smells good, but it doesn’t smell like food– the thought is like the thought of eating scented stationery! Now, coconut flour bread, there’s good stuff!

  6. I like cheese bread, raisin bread, white bread,
    and Hungarian bread.
Your bread in the picture looks sooooo
    good.

  7. Oh yummy! I like soy and linseed when I remember to eat it lol! And it is good for you too!

  8. ohhhh! thats my favorite, too! I had a friend in highschool who would make it every christmas for all of her friends…i miss it to this day! …i gotta go track her down!
