Warm Greetings on this first day of March!
Can you believe we’ll be setting the clocks ahead in just a couple of weeks? It’s been wonderful to see the daylight lasting longer and longer into the evening over the last two months, and I’m especially looking forward to adding that hour! ๐
For this week’s giveaway I have a very sweet pair of earrings!
If you’ve ever been in a garden early on a summer morning, you know how the sun dances on flower petals making dewdrops sparkle like tiny diamonds. These pretty earrings have that same effect.
They feature a very beautiful and increasingly rare type of bead – “Vintage Confetti Lucite”. These beads are a transparent light rose pink with tiny bits of silver glitter sprinkled within the lucite. The glitter under the surface gives them a very subtle sparkle – so pretty!!! I’ve accented the lucite beads with Swarovski Rose Aurora Borealis Crystals and tiny silverplated beadcaps.
Measurements: The length is 1-1/2″ including the earwires, which are made of Sterling Silver.
Contest Rules and How To Enter
Any day you leave a comment on this blog – it is counted as a chance to enter that weekโs giveaway.
For example, if you answer todayโs question (youโll find it below!) that will give you one chance.
But if you then come back another day this week and comment on a different post – you will have earned another chance in this weekโs giveaway! There are usually 4-5 posts per week โ Monday through Friday – so you can have multiple chances to enter!
When you comment you do not have to mention that it’s an entry in the giveaway. My blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them, and all will count to be entered into the drawing! ๐
Today’s question is:
Pretend that you’ve been cleaning out your elderly aunt’s basement and you came across an old lamp. You dusted it off and a genie appeared! He offered to transport you to anytime in the PAST – either a time in your own life or to any other era in history. To what time would you travel and what would you do when you get there?
The Boring Stuff . . .
You must be 18 yrs. old. After the completion of the contest, the name of the winner will be listed here. The winner will also be notified by email. If the winner fails to respond to email within 3 days from the time notification email has been sent, the win will be null and void and a new winner will be chosen. The prize will be mailed via USPS First Class Mail
All entries must be received by 9:00 p.m. EST on 03/07/10, and the winner will be selected on or about 03/08/10.
Oh dear what a choice!
I have a pretty good memory so I can relive my own life whenever I want.
In history I love Shakespeare so a visit to the Globe is tempting but then I can visit the modern reconstruction and it would be a lot less smelly.
My favourite period in history is the English Civil war. I love the fashions but with a war raging it might be quite dangerous so going to a reconstruction might be a better idea.
Probably I would choose a a much earlier time period – something biblical.
Just being present at Mount Sinai for the 10 commandments would really be an experience.
Good Morning. Nice Earrings!
You know its so hard for me to play by rules ~lol~
I don’t want to go back in time to anywhere. I don’t want to live the life of a woman anywhere in history. I love my independence. I could not stand to be dominated in a male world. I don’t want to live without all the things we take for granted…electric stove..buying bread at the store instead of having to bake it myself. I don’t want to beat clothes on a rock because washing machines haven’t been invented yet. I want to get in my CAR and go.
If I HAVE to go back in time, it would be to the Old West. Not sure what character I’d be… an Annie Oakley type or Miss Kitty. I’m pretty sure I’d be head strong and independent!
Where YOU goin, Crystal?
Oh, no! Genies are dangerous and fickle. Do I HAVE to go back? If I go back, can I return? Will I be immune to their diseases? Will they be immune to mine? What about language altering?
Assuming I could get the complete Time Lord Travel package- no disease transmission, escape on demand, complete language comprehension– I’d go back to pre- Columbian Central Texas. With a camera. The locals here were by best accounts fun easygoing friendly people. It would be great to see the place juuuust as humans were digging in!
This question stumped me, because while it would be cool to go back in time, I’d only do it on the condition that I could come back to the present. If I could go to any time, I think I would go back to ancient Japan and see what people really wore. I did my Master’s thesis on that, but since nothing survives, we know very little. And I would just LOVE to see the color combination in action. See what they’d really look like http://studio360.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/genji.jpg
But then I’d want to come back to now. ^_^
If I could travel in time to any place, I would love to meet either Jane Austen or Emily Dickinson. Or maybe find out if the Bronte family did have a murderer in their midst!
Very pretty earrings!
MMM wish it was the future so i could see how my 18 year old will really turn out.If i was to go back id probably go back to when i met my husband and relive all the good times with him..all 22 years so far:)
Iโd go back to where the guys are gentlemen and the ladies wear pretty dresses and enjoy tea time more than anything else. Iโd start a simple life, marry one of those gentlemen and be an old fashioned housewife ๐
I’d travel back to the 1950s and go to my parents’ school and see what they were like when they were younger.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I would definitely go to a completely different era, because I haven’t lived that long. I would travel back in time to meet Jane Austen. I just KNOW we would have been friends. Oh, and who wouldn’t want to wear those dresses?!? Gorgeous! And the balls – I could go on. Plus, I’ve always wanted to go to England. What better opportunity?
Wow. What a question. I’d like to go back to the revolutionary war time I think. Only as a property owning man – that way I could be a part of it all. ๐ That or the 40s – I looove the dresses and the dancing.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love to go back to meet my mother’s mother when she was in high school, to talk to her and see what she was like at that age.
I would like to be transported back to when my mother was alive and have the opportunity to quilt with her. I lost her before we had this opportunity together.
I think I will shy away from the question — I’m so gloomy and fatalistic — you know those science fiction stories that have someone going into the past, and then the world goes kaput because they changed something…
I will instead just say how lovely those earrings are with the vintage Lucite!!!
I would like to go back in time to Woodstock. In pictures it looks like everyone was so carefree. I need a little of that right now.
Oh geez… I think I would like to visit ancient Rome. Maybe it’s all the Spartacus episodes I’ve been watching, but it’s just kind of neat how luxurious and indulgent life could be (sans the violence, of course) while still having all these bizarrely modern conveniences. What would I do there? Hmm… what happens in ancient Rome stays in ancient Rome. ๐
My father passed away about 6 years ago while I was out of town. I would definitely ask the genie to grant me the ability to go back so that I could be with my family at that time.
Hi Sweetie!
Your pink “Dew Kissed Rose Earrings” are beautiful! I really love those little silver sparkles!
I’d go back to when my dad was here, and if I could do that and then answer your question from there, I would go back about 200 years, and I own a little millinery shop!
xoxo’s
Paulette
I would time travel to the 1960’s and live a life of a teenager of that time ( :
What cute earrings!
I would go back to the 50’s or 60’s, because I swear I should’ve been born in that era!
Thanks for the entry! ๐
I would go back to the early 1800s and chill with Beethoven ;]
So many times I would love to go back to and relive. First thought though is our wedding day, that wonderful time when our life together began. I’d relive it exactly as it was!
I would go back to my teen years and change my past….such a good question.Love the earrings they are sooo pretty. Thanks fingers crossed. Marian
I would actually rather travel in the future and see where we are in 10-15 years. But if you insist, I’d probably travel to the 70’s and party the hell out!
Assuming it’s just for a visit, I’d love to go see 19th century or turn-of-the-century Paris. I’ve always loved Phantom of the Opera, and attending a full-on masquerade sounds like a blast!
I would like to go back in time to watch my grandfather play baseball with the Birmingham Barons. The family always talked about it but I could never find any official documentation that he was on the team. He passed many years ago.
Also I would like to spend a day with my great grandfather. I am told he was an amazing man. There’s even a story within the family that a street was named after him in Alabama. I have searched through the town records, etc. but have never found the street on any maps. Late 1800’s, early 1900’s. I can see us traveling through the small town in horse and buggy. I am sure I would have had on a pretty bonnet. ๐
AJ, I was a teen-ager in the 60’s. I have lots of fond memories.
I remember quarter parties (we paid a quarter for admission) and Sweet Shoppe mid afternoon dances on the weekend. And slumber parties. And drill team routines. And popularity contests. Most of the activities were sponsored by our parents’ community clubs. There was always something going on…
I would like to be taken back to the time of Jesus. Often, I have wondered about if I lived during that time, what would my reaction to Jesus have been?! Would I be a faithful follower of his or against him? Also, I would loved to have heard him speak in person. Many thanks, Cindi
I’d go back to the prehistoric times. I wonder what kind of creatures the dinosaurs are:)
Wow! If I could go back into time, I would go back to when the first human ever existed. Then I would know who is who.
I’d have to say the 50s…the everyday glamour ๐ it’s a little silly but I think I’d be better suited for a less casual era!
I always felt I was born in the wrong era! I always envision myself as the lady of the manor; having a cook and housemaid, a conservatory and sun room; doing embroidery and reading all day long with my daughters. I’d learn to play the piano and write a good script; I’d learn to like tea! But I soooo need to be pampered and have lily white hands and roses growing in the garden tended by the best gardener in the county! Yup, I wanna go there and never come back!
I recently lost my father, so I would travel back to a young girl, my father by my side. To a time when he taught me to ride a bike; my First Communion; My first dance; Prom; Graduation; My Wedding. Love you Daddy.
I’d go visit Jesus.
I’d like to go back in the 50’s and spend some time with my grandparents.
I would have gone to my childhood, when we have a lot of walking on the street and the time was enough.
I think I want to travel at the old times when the traditional crafters around Venice started their crystals art in beads and jewels and learn their secrets myself ๐ I might aswell ask my boyfriend to accompany me so we can ride gondola when I have time break ๐
I’d love to see what it was like during the early days of the flowering plants (~40 million years ago if I remember correctly). No dinosaurs yet, so no worries there…
But I would definitely like to be able to come back when I wanted. I wouldn’t want to be stuck there – the only animal in a very different world!
i’d travel back to the Tudors reign and be one of Henry the Viii’s mistresses.
I would like to travel back during the lifetime of Jesus Christ. I would really love to be part of His life, experience and see for myself what was written in the bible.
I must say Jane Austen’s era. I’d love to meet her and the “men” who inspired her characters.
That would be fun!
I’d visit ancient Japan, a country i am fascinated with. i’d love to learn their culture then. Also, their drying trades.
I would like to visit the 1940’s to get a better appreciation of what my family experienced during WW II and the post war period. I would love to see my parents as young adults when they fell in love. Also to know my 2 grandfathers who died before I was born. I love the movies from that era and would love to experience watching them in the grand movie theaters of that time. Thank you.
I would go back to the late 1800’s in England to meet some of my ancestors as I am researching my family history.
I have to be honest, I think I’d travel back to when I was around 17 & decided to go to community college instead of a university. I should have tried the university!
I turn back in time to when I was 16 years to change some things in my life!
