I do! I do!

I’m back after a few fun-filled days! 😀

It was our anniversary on Friday and then we attended our nephew’s wedding – a very special celebration that lasted most of the weekend!

Our whole extended family was in attendance and we all stayed at a hotel near the festivities. It was delightful to see grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends – all at the same time, and for a few days instead of just an afternoon.

The bride and groom recommended the hotel, which was beautifully set up for a comfortable stay. It was quite a treat for us and the fact that it was also our anniversary weekend made it seem as if we were celebrating that too!

How about a tour of the place? 🙂

Doesn’t this look restful?

I’ll tell you more about the wonderful wedding later in the week, but for now I thought you’d like to hear about our anniversary.

We traveled to the above hotel on Friday afternoon in anticipation of the wedding which was to take place on the following day. We checked-in, dropped our bags in the room, oohed and aahed about how lovely and spacious it was, and then went out for our anniversary dinner. After that, we took a peek in a nearby mall to see if we could buy a new wedding album!

It turns out that after 38 years, a wedding album falls apart! Our wedding pix are still in fine shape – but the album is disintegrating. We found a new one at a Hallmark store and I can’t wait to put our old photos into it!

So, with a delicious meal under our belts and a new album purchased, we returned to the hotel to begin a memorable weekend.

To be continued . . .

Wedded Bliss

And they said it wouldn’t last. (Just kidding.)

Thirty-eight years ago tomorrow . . .

[ I was in kindergarten. Why are you laughing? I WAS! 😉 ]

I was lucky enough to marry a man who has made my life happier than I ever could have imagined. I’m sure in a dictionary somewhere – there’s a picture of him right beside the words “great husband”.

He’s been my best friend, a loving father for our kids, and the perfect partner through whatever life has sent our way.

If you were to ask him, I’m sure he’d say the same thing about me . . .

Isn’t that right, Dear?

Dear??? Isn’t that right?

Seriously, we’re so lucky. Please celebrate with us . . .

Autumn Resolutions

autumnLabor Day is fast approaching and bringing with it the unofficial end of summer.

Although we usually make resolutions on January 1st, it seems to me that whenever the seasons change, there’s an opportunity to regroup a little, make plans, strive for more balance, and remind ourselves to live in the moment.

I came across a list that I think could be the perfect formula for “autumn resolutions”. There are definitely a few gems in this bunch! 😀

Which one do you like best?

Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.

Try to make at least three people smile each day.

Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid.

Live with the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6. – Appreciate their genuine nature, strength, and innocence.

Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.

Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Time to Party!

Will you help me blow out the candles?

It’s my blogiversary!!!

One year – I can’t believe it! I wish I could reach right out there into cyberspace and give each one of you a piece of cake!

(Well, first I wish I had a cake! lol )

Seriously though, one year ago today I never dreamed that this blog would unfold the way it has. I started it as a way to spread the word about my bead shop. Initially, I thought I’d concentrate on writing posts about making jewelry.

I quickly discovered that many of my readers were interested in a wide range of topics and so I’ve tried to cover a variety of subjects. Sometimes I worry that I’m not pleasing everyone, but I’m trying my best!

One thing I never expected is that I would meet so many wonderful people, who would generously offer such incredible support, warm friendship, and delightfully sweet and entertaining feedback! Thank you all so much!!!
