For this edition of Friday Favorites, I have a very lovely Vintage Trade Card.
These cards were given to potential customers as a way to advertise – so much nicer than today’s spam, don’t you think? π
One could probably burn a few calories wearing such an important hat, but I must admit that I think it is gorgeous! π
Have a fabulous weekend, Kids! Thanks so much for your comments this week. See you Monday for a new giveaway and a new question . . .
It looks like my Nana’s garden threw up on her head π Would you seriously wear that? LOL!
I have a Winnie the Pooh hat (yes, the top half of the head of Pooh!) I thought THAT was an embarrassment to my family when I wear it in public! Not good enough, apparently, when something of THIS magnitude is available! I need it! LOL!
Id love to go to the days when ladies dressed up,put up their hair and wore such glorious hats:)Have a wonderful weekend!
What a fun card! The price seems cheap now, but in 1908 that was probably quite a bit of money. Love the roses!
I would have a headache wearing something like that on my head, but I love all those fashions from that time. I’m just so glad I don’t have to wear them. I’m a jeans and t-shirt person. I don’t think I would want to ride a Harley dressed up like that.
hi crystal!! i would wear this hat anywhere, anytime!! besides, i could sure afford to burn some of these extra calories!! and, i noticed in your previous post that you took the color quiz….i took it too, and guess what…..we’re both purples!! woo hoo!!
thanks for stopping by my blog and saying hello….i SO appreciate your sweet encouraging comment!! :)))
That would be so much fun to make!! I think I might go out and get some flowers and make one for my daughter.
Hi Ladies!
I can definitely see both sides of this. Let me reply below to each of you! π
Spamgirl:
Aw, I can understand that you wouldn’t want to wear this today but if we were living in that era, I would wear it in a heartbeat! I don’t know how those women moved in so many yards of fabric and heavy-looking accessories but I love the glamour of it all.
Michelle:
Me, too!!! I’d love the hair and costumes – but can I bring indoor plumbing into the time machine with me? π
Margie:
I’d love to know what that price would be in today’s dollars!
Kelly:
Definitely not! Besides, the hat would never fit under your helmet! π
Lori:
We could get purple hats! lol
Dee:
Make one? Wow! If you do, would you send in a picture? π
Jane:
I’ll bet you have a great collection of hats! π
I remember loving them while growing up. “Girls” always wore hats on Sundays. It was such fun to see ladies of all ages – from little kids to great-grandmothers sporting a fancy chapeau! I hope hats come back in a big way – soon!
Oh dear, dare I admit…… even in today’s world I consider hats “glorious” and wear on whenever setting foot outdoors. A baseball cap or sun hat or warm hat here on “the farm” but when going to town, pull out all the stops and don a fun or crazy or beautiful hat. Perhaps not as much ornamentation as the one shown, but often at least a flower, or tassel, or leaves…… you get the picture? π Thanks for sharing this beauty from yesteryear.
Oh, I love those tradecards! That is a beauty! Thanks for sharing! I love hats, would love to wear one every day…
