Giveaway – Blue Skies Necklace

Happy 2010! I hope you enjoyed the holidays, and that you were able to find a little time to relax as well!

I did and now I’m ready for more fun and surprises here on the blog. I’ve been thinking about the weekly giveaways, and how I might spice them up a bit for the new year!

I’ll need your help on this! To give your opinions on some of the ideas I’ve been considering – please click here!

And now, on to this week’s giveaway. 🙂

I can hardly believe this is my 59th giveaway! In all that time, we’ve never had a necklace and so to start 2010 off right, here’s a pretty design in blue/aqua.

“Blue Skies”

Blue Skies Necklace

It truly is that gorgeous sky-blue color that you see on a bright sunny day, and it features Czech beads that resemble swirled cinnamon buns! These beads have an iridescent flash on one side, and I’ve accented them with coordinating Swarovski crystals and smaller Czech glass spacers. The metal components are sterling silver and silver plate. The necklace measures 18-1/2” in length and fastens with a pretty toggle clasp.

Contest Rules and How To Enter

Any day you leave a comment on this blog – it is counted as a chance to enter that week’s giveaway.

For example, if you answer today’s question (you’ll find it below!) that will give you one chance.

But if you then come back tomorrow and comment on tomorrow’s post too – you will have earned another chance in this week’s giveaway – so you’ll have 2 chances!

Return on the next day, comment, and add another chance! And so on through the week. When you comment you do not have to mention that it’s an entry in the giveaway. My blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them, and all will count to be entered into the drawing! 😀

The giveaways end on Sundays, so you’ll have a little time to “catch up” if you missed any weekday posts.

Today’s question is:

What tourist attraction in your area have you never visited? It doesn’t have to be a world famous attraction – just a place that visitors to your area usually want to see.

{For us, it’s the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston. From all accounts it’s a fabulous place that’s rich in history with wonderful exhibits and photos. (Sir Beads-a-Lot, if you are reading this, let’s go there in 2010!)}

The Boring Stuff . . .
You must be 18 yrs. old. After the completion of the contest, the name of the winner will be listed here. The winner will also be notified by email. If the winner fails to respond to email within 3 days from the time notification email has been sent, the win will be null and void and a new winner will be chosen. The prize will be mailed via USPS First Class Mail

All entries must be received by 9:00 p.m. EST on 01/10/10, and the winner will be selected on or about 01/11/10.

  1. We have never visited the Harley Davidson Museum in Wisconsin! Also, I hate to admit this but I have never blogged or twitted before. I know that will lower my chances of winning but if it’s meant to be me then it will:)

  2. Very pretty necklace.

Well, I DID go to Notre Dame before I was married. But it wasn’t my choice. I was dating someone who had a friend that attended there and we used to go to sporting events. So that kinda doesn’t count.

Well, if that doesn’t qualify, I never went to the College Football Hall of Fame. I don’t think I plan to, but if I am going to, I better do it fast because its moving to Atlanta.

I did go to the hill out on Brick Road. They claim that when you are at the top, if you stop your car and put it in Neutral the car will roll backward. It didn’t work.

Happy New Year. BTW, how long into the new year is it appropriate to wish a Happy New Year?

The answers to this one should be interesting.

  3. You know, I live in Atlanta, AND work at the Atlanta Historical Society, and I have never been to the Margaret Mitchell House. Shame on me! I’m gonna do it this year! Maybe even this month. ^_^

  4. I’ve never visited the Dogwood Festival in Fayetteville, NC. I’ve always wanted to go, but at the time I didn’t know the area too well. Hopefully, this year will be the year!

  5. I actually have been to the JFK Museum, but never the freedom trail. Maybe in the summer…maybe….probably not 🙂

  6. I’ve never visited Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis. I’ve seen pictures, and it’s lovely! I am going to go this year…Spring possibly!

If I were to stay stateside, I’d love to visit the Grand Canyon.

  8. I live in a really small village called Cedar Grove. They have a restored 1930’s house called the Te Ronde house. People visit it when they come for Holland Fest..and I have NEVER EVER been there!

  9. We have never visited the Fort Worth Zoo!! I’d like to go when the weather gets a little warmer 🙂

  10. I live in Memphis, yes, I have been to Graceland (once)! I have never been to the National Civil Rights Museum, although my daughter went there on a field trip. I guess that doesn’t count. I wanted to go there last fall to hear the Dalai Lama speak, but ended up not going.

    What a beautiful necklace!!

  11. I have never been to the Valley Forge historic site…have been planning to go and do the bike ride tour there for two years now!

  12. I live in the Tampa Area and have never been to Adventure Island. It is a large outdoor water park and wildy popular. I have gotten lazy in my old age, and the thoughts of crowds makes me woozy.

  13. Hi! I haven’t been to the new Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum in Springfield IL. I want to see it..the last time I was there they were still building it.

I love the necklace that you are giving away. So beautiful and feminine.

    Thanks for doing this! 🙂

  14. I live in Salt Lake City, UT and I have never visited the Clark Planetarium or the Hogle Zoo. Hopefully someday I’ll get there.

  17. warwick castle, i guess. there isn’t much to see in this part of england anyway, but it’s quite popular with most everyone!

  18. I have never been to the Wright Bros Bicycle shop. I am sorry that I haven’t taken the time to go. Dayton is afterall the birthplace of aviation.

  19. We have never visited Lake Tahoe, even though its so popular and only an hour away. We have so many nice lakes near by, we just never have the urge.

  20. I live in Macon, GA and have never been to the Hay House or the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

  21. a Michigan one….Pictured Rocks National Seashore. We actually “tried” to visit it once when we had to go near by for work, and somehow we just ended up on a deserted dirt road. Oops.

  22. I think the one place I haven’t visited is the church that housed the Liberty Bell during the Revolutionary War. I’ve driven by and even have been all around it but never went in, shame huh?

  23. I have never gone to Ellis Island. I seem to have taken visitors all over the place, but have always missed this!

  24. Hey!! Awesome giveaway! count me in!

Crystal says: Aw, c’mon, Mimi. In order to be entered in the giveaway, you need to leave a comment that says more than “count me in!”. It wouldn’t be fair to everyone else who has left a thoughful comment if I accepted this one as an entry. Please try again 🙂

  25. I live within two hours of Washington D.C. and I am sad to say I have never visited the Vietnam War Memorial.

  26. There aren’t a lot of tourist type attractions here in WV. However, there is a tacky place called ‘The Mystery Hole’ where gravity reportedly does not exist (water flows uphill, etc.)

  27. That is a beautiful Necklace…I would love to wear it at a beach!!!

I live close to several towns which have beautiful things to see and do, like beaches, museums, concerts etc. but I never seem to go. This year, I would like to make a list (like a mini bucket list) and travel to see more of my area.
