For this week’s Friday Favorites, I have two little treats for you! I found a whimsical illustration and an amusing quote. 🙂
This vintage print depicts Thumbelina of fairytale fame.
She is gliding across the pond on a lily pad that’s powered by a snowy white butterfly!
Doesn’t the scene have a lovely summertime quality? I see some fish but I wonder if just under the surface of the water, we might discover one of Carol’s frogs!
Next the quote . . .
“I have noticed that the people who are late are often so much jollier than the people who have to wait for them.” ~E. V. Lucas
Have a fun-filled weekend!
See you Monday with new questions! 😀
That’s a darling illustration, and I really love that quote! :o)
Of course there’s frogs down there!! There are frogs EVERYWHERE!
Funny that you posted that particular quote today. On my way to work I was thinking about why I am always late for work now. Never in my life have I ever been late for work, but it seems like everyday I get busy doing something and there I go, late out the door. I have been trying to figure out why.. First of all, they don’t care at work if I am late, they are just glad I showed up!! I get busy doing things in the morning that I am too tired to do at night. Having 2 boys living with me has created more work. I spend too much time on the internet. But most importantly, I don’t care. Wonder why that is.
i love the picture on your post! who’s the painter behind it?
i haven’t read the whole thumbelina story but i’ve watched the disney movie.
and regarding the quotation… personaly, i find it true heheheh i’m not a punctual person honestly and i must say sometimes, i can do nothing but to smile when i know that it’s my fault. why will i frown anyway?… hehehe
