The Good Yarn

Do you remember when I was making these flowers?

I was using yarn scraps to practice because I wanted to experiment a little before changing to the pricey yarn I had just bought.

This week, I finally carved out a little time to begin working with the “good yarn”.

It’s from Debbie Bliss, and it’s called “Cashmerino”. Talk about soft! And the colors are gorgeous. πŸ™‚

I‘ll be making about 50 flowers in all combinations of these colors.

In the end, I’ll sew the flowers together to make a shawl. The thought of how pretty it could be makes me giddy, I tell ya!

So far, I have 10 flowers complete. It’s fairly easy to make 1 or 2 per day – usually after dinner, when I sit down with Sir Beads to watch a TV program.

I won’t show the new flowers yet . . .

Oh, what am I saying? I hate it when somebody leaves me in suspense!

How about if I show one of them?!? πŸ˜‰

To be continued in the coming weeks . . . .

  1. I can’t wait to see the finished product!
I really like that lime green yarn; that is quickly becoming my new favorite color. So cheery.
All the colors work so well together, I’m sure the shawl will be gorgeous!

  2. So that’s what yarn is for!!!!

Wow it sure looks colorful. But I still cannot visualize a shawl.

  3. Gosh, I’m here late. No time in the AM or at work. After supper with a cuppa and I’m on the web checkin everyone out.

Crystal, your flowers are really pretty. I have been following along as several of my blog friends create flowers. One of my favorite yarners made a shawl/scarf from rayon boucle. I loved the drape so off I went to find me some. Not cheap stuff!! But I did find a yarn store on Ebay that was more than reasonable and bought varigated skeins of turquiose/tans/to brown. Probably a fall project, but we’ll see.

Hope Kelly and everyone else dodged the bad weather. There was a tornado in a town just a short distance from here last night. I wish all these disasters would just stop!
    Goodnight for now
    xx, Carol

  4. Greetings Allison!
You know, I am also liking that lime green more every day – and I have never been a fan of green.
It’s fun to think that we can continue to change and have new preferences over a whole lifetime! πŸ˜€
    (Hugs for Robert!)

  5. Hey Carol πŸ™‚
You just *know* I’ll be googling rayon boucle next…. love your color combo!
I actually took a look at a map after the news last night to make sure you were enough away from the storm!

I really think you will like the shawl – even though it is crocheted. I promise to show pix as soon as it is done!
    When is school out?

  7. Going to be fabulous!! Love the colors you selected.

Maybe you will share the instructions so I can make some of those pretty flowers.
