A Blank Page

If you’ve ever been a kid in school, then you know this feeling . . .

Your assignment was to write a “composition”, or a poem, or a short story.

Naturally, you wanted it to be interesting – maybe even clever!

The blank page before you was hypnotizing.

As you gazed upon it, things went out of focus.

The more you tried to think of what to write, the tougher it was to begin.

The clock kept ticking, ticking, ticking…

Nothing.

That’s just about where I am right now.

I’ll try again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜‰

(Topic suggestions are always welcome.)

A Blank Page — 6 Comments

  1. I’m back at my standard operating time. This week has been a little crazy with my new class and trying to get everything else finished.

I’m still in school so those blank pieces of paper can still get to me sometimes. At least most of my writing assignments include the topic.

6/9 Donald Duck Day (Donald first appeared in “The Wise Hen” on June 9, 1934)
Here is a topic, who is your favorite Disney character? I like Pluto
    6/9 National Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day

  2. Oh Crissie, you don’t have to ENTERTAIN us!!

OK, first off, last Friday at the end of my work day, I wanted to leave, go to the bank,
go out to eat and relax for the evening. Not to happen. I put the key in the ingnition and it wouldn’t go in. I called my Trusty Repair Man who quickly came to my rescue and got the key to work. Put that Honda in the gargage for the weekend because it would not start again. Long story short..$750 later, new ignition with two keys that do not fit the doors. Making THAT happen would have been $1170. Brother. Almost makes you want to trade it in. Investing $1170 on a 2003 had me weighing options.

So, that’s what was new with me over last weekend and this week. O, yeah. The DEALER fixed it and had to send across country for the parts.

    Whats new with all you?
    Crissie will return tomorrow.
    xx, Carol

  3. Kelly,
I was thinking of you when I wrote today’s post. ๐Ÿ™‚
You are right in the middle of essays and assignments these days!

  4. Oh Kelly – I’m going to fix a strawberry pie this week end but no rhubarb – hubby doesn’t like it.
I can tell you a story about me and a not blank but not well written report.
I was in 8th grade. The teacher said ‘write a 100 word essay about what you see in your crystal ball’ I asked what he meant by a crystal ball ( I was terribly naive and really didn’t know what he meant) He would not explain! So I wrote the following:
“This is what I see in my crystal ball: nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing…..” I wrote the word NOTHING 91 times. And I got an F – my first and I believe only F.
Bummer. (I didn’t show that one to Mom!)
