Found this little cutie on sale!
I grin every time I see her . . .
and that little swim tube – too adorable!
Even though Iโm not a fan of the hot weather, I still think there are lots of things to love about summer!
For this week’s Lucky Seven, I have:
7 Ways to Enjoy Summer:
1. Go out for ice cream
I’m not sure if this would impress the texting/tweeting kids of today, but before there was air conditioning – packing the whole family into the car after dinner and taking a drive to “cool off” and get an ice cream cone used to be a very BIG deal (and lots of fun, too!).
2. Cook out on the grill.
Better yet, see if hubby or housemate will man the grill while you provide the side dishes.
3. Grab a book,
or your knitting, or your iPod, and find a cool spot to relax on a scorching summer day.
4. Be a tourist in your own hometown.
I’ll bet you haven’t visited some of the attractions in your area that the tourists enjoy. Why not cross one off the list this summer? It’ll be like a mini vacation – without the hotel bill!
5. Put together a simple dinner picnic,
and head for the park, the lake, or to an ocean view if you live near the coast.
6. Stop and smell the [roses] flowers!
Some of the summer flowers are especially fragrant – like phlox, sweet peas, lavender and of course – roses! ๐
7. Go to a summer fair
Check your local newspapers for upcoming church fairs, county fairs, public concerts, or art festivals. You’ll find craft demonstrations, music performances, fine art, dancing exhibitions, and lots of tempting food!
You know, I think I had a shiny nylon-knit bathing suit – just like this – when I was a kid!
What else is there to love about summer? ๐
Hugs,
Well this bear is so tooo cuooote!! I love bears. I love summer. I love the water. Perfect Bear.
Well, you failed to mention weeding the garden! Its such a healthy thing. Sweating to clear the pores then a nice shower to make you feel all clean and tingley!
How bout the refreshment of a cold icy glass of green tea.
Fairs, Fairs, Fairs and more fairs. I agree, one of the best part of summer.
The feel of the sand along Lake Michigan through your toes as you walk the beach!! And that slight smell of fish that only a fresh water lake can do proud.
And summer sidewalk sales!
Ahhh, summer. I can’t think of anything about it I don’t like except tornados and hurricanes.
Have a great day Crissy. You make me want to play hooky!!
xx, Carol
That bear is adorable!
Another summer pleasure – catching up with old friends – wait a minute – that can be done anytine! Ha! But it seems that summer gives me the time to visit and share a glass of lemonade – ahhh.
With the heat index yesterday it was 115 and there is no relief in site. Grilling, crockpot, or going out to dinner are about the only options.
Swimming at my dad’s condo is nice when my niece and nephew come over too.
I’m off on my Harley this weekend to Columbus, Ohio for my sister in laws baby christening. We leave on Saturday and will be back on Sunday. Then I have 5 weeks to get some of my list finished before I start school again. It felt so good to finish class today, especially after the presentation yesterday and today’s test.
The one thing I can always look forward to in July is hubby’s family reunion. Always the 3rd weekend of July. Like clockwork. For 50 years. It is here in Michigan this year. THIS WEEKEND!! I still have lots to do. Bag up welcome kits. Wrap door prizes. Decide which games to take. We have lots of fun. I may need to borrow that swimsuit. ๐
What a cute little bear! Makes me want to jump in the pool (if only I had one). I’ll have to relax on the back porch instead. Our yard has plenty of (well, tons of) shade which is not good for our garden, but great for sitting outside on hotter days!
I think about our family’s trips to do #1 all the time. ๐ Wish there was a soft serve ice cream place closer to where I am now!
one thing i love to do is invite people over for drinks on my roofdeck!
