The Countdown Has Begun

It’s just around the corner you know . . .

And I don’t mean the first day of school.

I mean Christmas!!!!

Ok, ok! Stop pelting me with your assorted slippers, sandals, and salad vegetables! πŸ˜‰

Seriously though, Kids, it’s never too early to think about Christmas – especially if you’d like to make gifts, ornaments, or design your own Christmas cards! Those things take time and you don’t need me to tell you it’s more fun to do them at your leisure than last minute.

(I do need to tell myself, however. In fact, I need reminding every year!)

For me, getting a little jump-start on the holidays brings an added incentive. You see, thinking of Christmas during the steamy days of summer makes me feel cooler!

So, here’s Exhibit 1, my first ornament of the 2012 holiday season.

The components are Czech glass seed beads, glass bugle beads, and Swarovski Crystals. Definitely more sparkly in person . . . I think it will just twinkle on the Christmas tree. πŸ˜€

Also perfect to tie on a package, a box of chocolates, or even a bottle of spirits! It was fun to make… quick and easy, too!

  1. OMGosh!! Every morning as the days get shorter Terry says “Look, look how dark it is outside. Winter is coming”. And I say “you idiot, of course it is. It comes EVERY year”. “Idiot” lovingly identifies when he has said something……well you know, idiotic. ~lol~

Seriously though, I am gearing up for Halloween first.

    Cool ornie.

    xx, Carol

  2. Ooh! … Crystal, I just LOVE this! You must have THE prettiest Christmas tree, with all of your beautiful, beaded ornaments, twinkling from it’s branches! πŸ™‚

You and I are so on the same page right now!

    Try to stay cool, girlfriend!

  3. Well, good grief! I was almost finished with my comment, and somehow pushed some weird button and lost the whole thing. UGH! Anyway…I haven’t even thought of Christmas yet! Well…not until now. lol I like making my own cards and usually start them in October. I don’t have a whole lot to send out, but I like to give myself enough time and enjoy making them.

I love your ornament! I can just imagine it hanging on the tree all pretty and sparkly. I downloaded the pattern and will give it a try. Who knows, I may just become addicted and make lots of them! πŸ˜‰ Thank you for sharing the pattern Crystal. I hope mine turns out just as pretty as yours did.

  4. I love the ornament, but there is no way on earth that I’m even close to getting ready for Christmas. I do have some of the shopping complete because I have won a few items that will make great gifts.

I start school in a few weeks and I’m getting ready for it. I’m with Carol on the Halloween holiday. I will be figuring out how I’m going to dress up the boys (dogs) for the costume contests. Artie loves the water so we went to the pool party at the local park and he won the beach party attire contest with his grass skirt, sunglasses, hat and lei.

  5. Is it Christmas time ALREADY!! Wow, this year is flying!! Your ornament is adorable. Of course, I am thinking necklace. Pendant.

Thanks for the link. I read through the comments there and found this one too funny.

“kinda flimsy and will not hold shape enough to be on a Christmas Tree”

Maybe she could use spray starch. πŸ˜€

  6. Hey, Donna
I am guessing the comment may have come from a person who is new to beadweaving and unaware that some designs might need an extra pass-through with the thread to make them sturdier.

A pendant would surely be bold and beautiful! πŸ™‚

  7. Kelly,
Best wishes for the new school year!!! What subjects are on the schedule this semester?

If you have a chance, the next time the “boys” are in costume – we’d love to see a photo!! πŸ™‚

  8. Brenda,
    Speaking of cards…
I was at Michael’s and also TJMaxx last evening and got some cool new paper punches for a song!
I love when that happens πŸ™‚
If your cards are half as lovely as your jewelry – they must be gorgeous!!!! πŸ™‚

  9. Thanks Carol,
    for the compliment!

You crack me up, kid! Terry is right though. πŸ˜‰
Please say “hi” to him for me.

  10. Hi Paulette!
You know I am hanging out near the a/c these days! πŸ˜‰
Pass the ice cold lemonade, please! πŸ™‚
