Giveaway – Faraway Galaxy Pendant

giftwrapGreetings Earthlings!

(Oh, oh, sounds like Crystal’s lost her marbles!) 😉

Not really! It’s just that I can’t seem to get the celestial theme out of my head after Friday’s post! One glance at this week’s giveaway and I started thinking of faraway planets and twinkling stars. 😀

FarawayGalaxy

This pretty pendant is one of those items that is even more beautiful in person. (Click on it for a little better view – but a photo can’t capture the depth of this piece.) The focal point is a gorgeous artisan-crafted polymer clay bead with a color palette that includes sleek black accented with blues, greys, whites, a touch of green, and a very subtle hint of sparkling glitter. For accents, I’ve added Swarovski Crystals in Montana Blue AB and Czech glass beads in Jet Black. All metal components are Sterling Silver.

The pendant is suspended from a fabulous Bali sterling silver bail that should accommodate most chains in your collection. Or perhaps you’ll wear it on a leather or satin cord!

Measurements: just over 2-1/2″ long (including the bail).

Giveaway – Faraway Galaxy Pendant — 91 Comments

  1. Hey! This pendant is right up my alley!! LOVE that bead.

OmGosh, Yes I believe that saying. Since I work in the office of a machine shop and am out on the work floor a lot, I have a uniform. It consists of jeans, a T or Tank with a shirt cover-up.

At home its shorts or lounge pants and flip flops.

I am in jeans when I go out, though I have another group of T-s I wear. Boring huh? NO! I dress it up!! I love Candies heels!

I have lots more clothes, but I seem to grab the same comfortable favs.

  2. I didn’t have a favorite book as a child. My grandson, Corey did. He loved all the Mercer Mayer books and we read them over and over and over.

When I was young I read constantly. I found it to be a great escape. My favorite place to go was the library. In the town where I grew up, the Library was in a big old mansion. It was fabulous. The atmosphere was so inviting. It was better than home.

  3. Oh, yay! Another Crystal giveaway, with Crystal questions!

The 80-20 thing– you know, that’s actually a standard statistical rule? It’s called the Pareto Principal! Lookie here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle

Now, I don’t know if it actually applies to clothes, but I do know that, in almost any multiple-choice activity, people will make their handful of favorites the choice MOST of the time– that’s what makes them favorites, after all! Like, I check out your blog almost every day, even if I am really horrible about response emails.:P

As for me, breaking down the math in regard to my own wardrobe takes too much time and numbers…but I know I should throw some things out, for sure. Sigh. Gotta make room in the house for a Galaxy, though, just in case I’m lucky!:D

  4. I was and am SUCH a bookworm– having “one” favorite book is unthinkable! But when I was a wee tot, Maurice Sendak’s Outside Over There had me captivated, as did Lyle the Crocodile.

When I was slightly less wee, of course, there were the Oz books. There are still the Oz books, and indeed, I reread all these things from time to time. If something’s really good, it doesn’t stop being good with time.:)

  5. Your title for this pendant is spot on. It is beautiful!!

As to your question, yep, I wear only a small portion of my clothing. Especially since I retired, it is probably more around 10%. Perfect time to clear out those unwanted items and donate. Or recycle.

  6. Yes, I wear only a small percentage of my wardrobe on a regular basis. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to get new clothes. I probably won’t wear them more than once anyway!
    The pendant is beautiful!

  7. I do agree with the statement that we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time – the clothes that are comfy – I wear all the time. The others I wear once in a while.

  8. Name of my favorite book: Nancy Drew – I read all of them but I’ve read them as an adult.

  9. I totally agree I wear my favorite clothes over again-most clothes don’t see the light of day!

  10. I disagree with the clothes statement – because I think I only wear 10% of my clothes 90% of the time! The stats get even worse with my shoes…

  11. My favorite childhood books were the C.S.Lewis Narnia series – and yes, I read them again before the first movie came out! Great books!

  12. What was the name of your favorite book when you were a child? Have you read that book again as an adult?
I loved to read aand still love. I can’t remember what was my favorite. There is too meny titles comes to remember, but I have read again some of thems 🙂

  13. I agree 100%! I only wear a few of my favorite clothes most of the time. The rest of the time I wear the other clothes when I don’t have those available or if I need to dress for a certain event (sport, date, church, ect).

  14. That is beautiful and I want it! Yes I definately wear 20% of my clothes 80% of the time. I have my favorites and wear them over and over.

  15. Yes, I whole heartedly agree with percentages. I like comfortable
and I find myself wearing the same clothes most of the time!
    Lovely necklace giveaway prize!
    Many thanks, Cindi

  16. My favorite childhood book was “Are You My Mother?” book!
I still own my copy and it has been read to our sons many times.
    Thanks, Cindi

  17. I agree with the 20/80.ratio. Since I teach preschool I live in play clothes. I can’t worry about paint, glitter and glue stains. I used to worry about things getting ruined or broken but at my age my attitude is “OH WELL!!”

I absolutely love the necklace. Soooo pretty and unique. You outdid yourself this time!

  18. I don’t have a favorite childhood book but I read children’s books on a daily basis at school. My favorite now is The Mitten Story.

  19. Do you agree with the following saying? “We wear 20% of our clothes, 80% of the time.”

Yes, because we can’t wear 100% of our clothes 100% of the time or we’d die of overheating!

  20. What was the name of your favorite book when you were a child? Have you read that book again as an adult?

The name was The Stand, and yes I read it again as an adult.

  21. I think the saying would be more true if it was 10% of our clothes 90% of the time. I’m trying to fix that- I went through my clothes a couple of weeks ago and am working on getting rid of the things I don’t wear! I’m hoping to repurpose some of it.

  22. A book I read A LOT as a child would probably be Little House on the Prairie- and I haven’t read it as an adult! I should get on that. Maybe my daughter will enjoy listening to it.

  23. Do you agree with the following saying? “We wear 20% of our clothes, 80% of the time.”
I agree. I’m trying to work against it by sewing my own clothes because first, I don’t have as many as if I were buying them and second, thinking of the effort I put into sewing them is a great motivation for actually wearing them.

  24. My favorites book when I was a child was a book full a russian stories (I have not russian background at all), full of witches and such (one was named Babayaga). I haven’t read it as an adult but I’ve tried to find it for my daughter, even though she’s still too young…

  25. Answer to question #1: Personally, I wear about 10% of my clothes 90% of the time, so yeah, I believe most people wear 20% of their clothes 80% of the time.

  26. I think the 20%/80% thing is very true. It’s the “I have nothing to wear” syndrome. At least, my closet is full of clothes but only a small portion of them I wear regularly. I don’t know why that is, come to think of it.

  27. My favorite book when I was little was the real “Secret Garden”. I have not reread it in years, but recently was thinking of reading it together with my kids before bedtime. I think that would be so enjoyable.

  28. I definitely agree with the clothes-wearing ratio. My ultimate thing is comfort, and there’s nothing cozier than worn-in clothes! The older one gets, the more the rule applies!

BTW–Gorgeous pendant! I can only imagine how beautiful it looks in person. Photos never do justice to art…or jewelry.

  29. Do you agree with the following saying? “We wear 20% of our clothes, 80% of the time.”

    Yes yes yes.
Granted, only 20% of my clothes fit me at any given time. Basically, clothes can be seperated into 5 groups – The ones you can wear at the moment, your “fat” clothes, your “skinny” clothes, your outdated clothes, and the ever ellusive “You wish” clothes…that would be a pair of jeans in a 00 from college, a few clubbing shirts…you know, things I wish I could get into again, but it would probably require extreme measures.

“It’s for Paris, I’m on this new diet. Well, I don’t eat anything and when I feel like I’m about to faint I eat a cube of cheese. I’m just one stomach flu away from my goal weight. ” – The Devil Wears Prada

  30. My favourite book as a child was “Anne of Avonlea”–actually, the whole series. And yes, I’ve read it as an adult…still had the same magic.
    😀

  31. What was the name of your favorite book when you were a child? Have you read that book again as an adult?

My favorite book was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and yes, I have reread it and it has quite a bit more meaning since my childhood. I’ve really enjoyed thinking about things in it like classism, how we raise our children, stereotyping etc. The treatment of female characters in the book is of particular interest.

  32. So aptly named! Love it!

I do agree that we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time…I do…just love the comfort and styling of a few pieces best.

  33. Fave book as a child: The Ugly Duckling I need to get a copy to have on hand to read to the grandchildren now….I’m bringing back all my favorites!

  34. Hi Crystal!!!!!I’m alive!!!!!And I arrive on time for enjoying this awesome pendant!!! I really love it!!!!!!!!!

Well, I don’ t know if I understand it well but if I did it… My wardrove are full of clothes that I don’t wear but I’m uncapable to throw it!!!! I always wear the same clothes and… yes it’s about 10 per cent of my 80 per cent wardrove!!!!

When I was a child I love The little Prince… and I read it several times later!!!!

    I suscribe your blog now!!!

    Hugs and kisses!!!

  35. Hi Sweetie…Sorry I’m so late getting here this week! I love that pendant! That bead is just gorgeous! You have such nice taste in putting the right beads and crystals together for that perfect combination!

…Yes, I agree that statement about wearing just 20% of our clothes most of the time…especially in the winter, when I can just throw on a velour sweat suit, and be dressed in one minute flat! I have 5 of them, and they really get used!

…my favorite book as a child was Charlotte’s Web. Loved it! I read it again as a grown up, and still loved it, and I loved the movie too! Such a sweet story!

    Hugs, Paulette =D
