Lucky Seven

In my never-ending search for ways to amuse you, I think I’ve come up with a new feature.

I’m calling it “Lucky Seven”.

I figure if Letterman can have a “Top Ten”, why can’t I have a lucky 7? 😉 So from time to time, I’ll post 7 things about … well … something!

For example: 7 good books, 7 ways to save money, 7 ways to de-stress, 7 great snacks … you can see where I’m going with this.

For the first edition I have: 7 Very Wise Quotes.

OK – you know me – I’ll have to be sure that a couple of them will make you smile, too!)

Let us know which one you liked best – or add one of your own if you like!

fairySpecial note: The violets in today’s post are for Carol, who is one of the most dedicated commenters here on the blog! Today is her birthday and violets are her favorite flower!
Have a great day, Carol!!!! 😀

7 Very Wise Quotes

~Mark Twain

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?
~George Eliot

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful. ~Buddha

Art is knowing which ones to keep.

Lucky Seven — 7 Comments

  1. Hey, this is good. 7 things. BTW, you posted a pic of my very favorite flowers.

So, you have gone to all the trouble of posting 7, I will, each post, tell you the one of your seven that “hits” me the most.

    TA DAH: can you guess???

I refuse to enter into a battle of wits with an unarmed person. ~Unknown

Why, just the other night when we were talking about something on the news, my grandson asked why I know so much. My reply was not that I know so much, but that I only discuss that which I have knowledge of, and I don’t debate with uninformed people.

Yes, I know that’s not really what this quote means, but it speaks to me because I usually know when to remain silent.

  2. Oh Gosh!!! I am just loving Carol’s answers to everything!

Crystal, This is such a great idea, your “Lucky Seven”. I will look forward to reading these posts, like all your others!

I use the first quote all the time, and it’s so true. If you don’t know enough about something, keep your mouth shut!

My favorite of your seven, was (like for Carol), the fourth. I’ve stashed it away in my memory bank for possible future use! Too funny!

Hope you’re having a wonderful, pumpkin picking, kind of day! xoxo

  3. Happy b-day to Carol!

I did enjoy the “Lucky Seven” thing (did you know that 7 is a biblical number?). Anyways, with all the horrible things happening in the world these days I remembered a very famous quote written by one of the greatest writers of all times: Thomas Mann

“War is a cowardly escape from the problems of peace.”

Other than that I did smile at the last quote, how funny!!!

I wish you would also have a question part of this chapter, for example:

Who´s quote is this: “Eurika” – or so… That would animate them to comment. I guess…

A great week end to everybody out there!!!
    Claudia

  4. Hi Claudia 🙂
Thank you for including your quote. It surely is very thought provoking.

I also appreciate your suggestion that I ask a specific question in this kind of post. I will try to the next time!

    Hugs,
    Crystal

  5. Great quotes though the Scott Adams is a little bit.. I’m not really sure I want to keep any of my mistakes 😉

  6. Thanks Crystal!

I wish I would be a wise person and I could come up with a quote myself. Something very smart, that people would repeat in certain situations… unfortunately most of the time, when I try this, people roll their eyes at the ceiling…. (I looked up there too but I couldn’t see anything ).

Lately, after having a hard time with my Etsy sales I MUST think of Andy Warhol and his famous quote more and more:

‘An artist is someone who produces things that people don’t need to have but that he – for some reason – thinks it would be a good idea to give them.’

And because I love him so much , and because you wanted people to smile, here another good quote from Andy:

‘The mosquito is the state bird of New Jersey.’

I didn’t care much about Warhol until I saw “Basquiat”. What a great movie.

Anyways, quotes are good. Most of the time.

    Love,
    Claudia

  7. Hi there
I love your last one – very funny and I can identify with it.
I have one for you that I love:

It’s not what you look at, it’s what you see.

I think Thoreau said it but I’m not sure.
