Giveaway – Soft Blue Earrings

Tuesday Greetings!

Today, there’s a new giveaway and are you ready for the new weekly question? 😉

Here in my neck of the woods, we’re very grateful that on Friday night, Hurricane Earl spared us as he whooshed on by. The rest of our Labor Day Weekend was full of bright blue (almost cloudless) skies, which inspired me to offer these pretty dangle earrings for the giveaway.

Fun and flirty, they feature artisan-crafted lampwork glass beads in a gorgeous shade of blue with a soft shimmer. I’ve accented the lampwork beads with Swarovski Lt. Sapphire crystals and beautifully textured silver-plated beadcaps.

The earrings measure approximately 2″ in length (including the sterling silver earwires).

Contest Rules and How to Enter:

You can have multiple chances to enter!
Any day you leave a comment on this blog – it is counted as a chance to enter the current giveaway.

For example, if you answer today’s question (you’ll find it below!) that will give you one chance.

But if you then come back another day and comment on a different post – you will have earned a second chance! Visit again and comment and you’ll have 3 chances, and so on.

(When you comment, you do not have to mention that it’s an entry in the giveaway. My blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them, and all will count to be entered into the drawing!) 😀

Today’s question is:

If you were asked to give a five-minute talk on a topic of your choosing, what would you talk about? Tell us a little of what you would say.

  1. Good Morning!

I had to stop and think about this. I can write an excellent communication, but my reaction to talk for 5 minutes about something….Nope, not me. I freeze.

But I’ll play the game an assume that I’m a great speaker. So the next step is to figure out what I know enough about to talk for 5 minutes.

I definitely would talk about animals. Right now the big topic here is abusive situations. A nationally well know Afgan breeder and shower starved 12 dogs…a pit bull bit a boy so the brother and father beat the dog to almost death.

I would speak about the movement to strengthen the laws against animal abuse.

What OTHER topic could I possibly choose.

Have a great day. I’m almost back from vacation!!
    xx, Carol

  2. I would talk about Pirates. I’m facinated by them and I’m not sure why. I know they were bad guys but they’re so interesting. Right off the Wellfleet beach, where I visit on Cape Cod, Barry Clifford discovered the Whydah Pirate ship and has been bringing up the treasure since the 80’s. He displays it in his museum on the pier in Provincetown. Visit if you get the chance.

  3. I’m so glad to hear that you are all okay and had a great weekend. We had a good one too, my mom is visiting us this week and my daughter started 4th grade today, where did my little baby go?

I think if I were to give a 5 minute talk it would be on the importance of finding some type of craft/hobby to help you slow down and take some time for yourself. Our days are so jam packed and it’s so nice to sit down and make a card and spend some time just with myself. Most often that time is with my other 2 little crafter helpers but there are times when it’s just me and the time is so needed for just a little refresher to get through the rest of the day. =)

  4. I would talk about the Things That Make Me Smile.

And how not to take life so seriously. Take a time out to enjoy the simple things. Collecting “things” is good. But collecting hand shakes and friendships is even better.

  5. I’m a huge failure when it comes to speaking to audience, but well, if I had to talk about something I would talk about books, I guess.

  6. I would talk about my parents, who immigrated here more than fifty years ago, and have managed to work hard, live a good life, raise us kids, and are still so healthy and active.

  7. Hi! I am glad that you are okay. I would talk about my parents and my sister and also about the family dog,Annie. 🙂

    Very beautiful earrings!

  8. Hi Crystal! You did it again and created another beautiful pair of earrings! Those beads are just so pretty…I love that color!

I’m pretty shy when it comes to talking. I can’t even think of anything I could talk about for that long that anyone would want to listen to! ;(

  9. Hmmm… I don’t really know what I’d talk about. Maybe sewing? Or maybe how important it is to learn to use the library. I work at a university library and it still shocks me how many students have no clue how to find anything (seniors included!)

  10. A five-minute talk…hmmm – I could entertain with the who, what, where, when and how of journalism writing. I could also talk about the delight of adopting a shelter dog (that was random).

  11. right now, toontown. It is this game and most people would probably think I was stupid for playing but it is so addictive with its’ simplicity!

  12. I have no idea what I’d talk about as I’m terrified of public speaking. Probably of how I was terrified to be up there speaking! lol

  13. I would talk about the importance of libraries (I’m a librarian). I would say how vital they are to the community and that people should visit and support their local library.

  14. I think I would talk about the island where I live and come from. Its history is very interesting since it’s situated right in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea and was used as a stepping stone by many different people of different cultures.

Lovely earrings, I love the soft shimmering blue colour : ) Thanks for the chance to win.

  15. I would talk about vintage clothing and how awesome it is. I would point out that it can easily be found at your local thrift shop for a fraction of the cost of buying new and that it is also good for the environment to buy vintage.

  16. I would talk about garment making and embellishment with pin tucking, trapunto, special threads, and beading.
