Giveaway – I Feel Pretty Earrings

If it’s Monday, it must be time for my weekly giveaway and a new question, too!

But first, a bit of trivia . . . 😉

You may not believe it… but I, Crystal, – lover of all beads, baubles and bling – will sometimes skip wearing a necklace and/or bracelet during the hottest days of summer!

I know!!! I can hear you gasping. lol

I must admit I feel a little bare without a few of pieces of jewelry, but if it’s terribly muggy, I opt for earrings only – so in that case – they have to be noticeable.

This week’s giveaway is a good example . . .

They’re showy enough to add some pizzazz to your outfit on a day when the weather has you feeling as wilted as a dishrag! 😉

I’ve used bright, summery colors and a variety of vintage and contemporary glass beads, with Swarovski crystal accents. All findings are sterling silver. The earrings measure 2-1/4″ long (including the artisan-crafted, sterling silver ear wires).

Contest Rules and How To Enter

Any day you leave a comment on this blog – it is counted as a chance to enter that week’s giveaway.

For example, if you answer today’s question (you’ll find it below!) that will give you one chance.

But if you then come back another day this week and comment on a different post – you will have earned another chance in this week’s giveaway! There are usually 4-5 posts per week – Monday through Friday – so you can have multiple chances to enter!

When you comment you do not have to mention that it’s an entry in the giveaway. My blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them, and all will count to be entered into the drawing! 😀

Today’s question is:

What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever seen someone do?

My answer would be…
One lovely summer day, as we were working in our yard, we saw our neighbor jump onto his son’s tiny tricycle. The man is about 6 ft. tall, and his knees were up to his chin as he wobbled for balance . . . and then proceeded to pedal as fast as he could! Within seconds, the tricycle toppled over and he landed in a heap on the ground. He had broken his ankle!

We drove him to the emergency room and he came home on crutches. We felt sorry for him, but couldn’t help wondering – what on earth was he thinking to try something so dumb?

Giveaway – Fairy Tale Necklace

Hello, hello!

I’m so glad you stopped by. 🙂

Welcome to my weekly giveaway!

Today, I have a sweet little necklace that’s sure to add a bit of sparkle to a summer neckline. It’s airy and delicate, and perfect for a sultry day, when heavy jewelry can feel too hot to wear!

I’ve used beautiful Swarovski tanzanite crystal pendants and bicones, along with silver-lined glass seed beads. The necklace features an extender chain so that you can adjust the length, as you wish. All findings are sterling silver.

Giveaway – Topaz Sky Earrings

Hi! Come on in. 🙂

I can’t believe it’s May – already. But, my calendar shows no more days for April, so I guess it must be true.

First of all . . .

Did you see all the questions that were sent in last week? Wow!

I was amazed at the range of topics – from silly to serious. It will take a little more time to finish answering all of them. I want to give each answer the same attention.

Now, on to the giveaway!!

Topaz Sky Earrings

These earrings are a bit of a contradiction – just like the lady who made them (me). 😉

“What on earth are ya talkin’ about, Crystal?”, you ask.

Well, I like things that are big and bold . . . but I also like tiny little details and miniature art.

I love bright, brilliant colors, but then I love pastels, too!

I love festive occasions with family and friends, but I’m also delighted to spend a quiet night at home.

These pretty earrings are “showy” because of their overall length (almost 2 inches), but since they’re made with petite beads and findings, they also have a very “delicate” presence!

I’ve used faceted Czech glass beads in a rich, smokey quartz color, and accented them with tiny vintage Swarovski crystals in a lovely shade of deep golden topaz. The ear wires are 14K gold-plated.

Today’s question:

As they say on Sesame Street, today’s question is brought to you by the letter “C” for Carol!

(Thanks Carol for suggesting it!)

What was the last movie you saw at the theatre? (It doesn’t matter if it was a long time ago. Did you like the movie or were you disappointed?)

Giveaway – Jonquils in Bloom Earrings

Greetings and Salutations, my Sweet Friends!

I’m back… and I’ve missed you!

What have you been up to? Anything exciting happen while I was away? 😉

Since this was a staycation, my plan was to spend a little time “playing” with some sewing and beading projects that I’ve had on the back burner. I was also hoping to crack open some new craft books that I bought a while ago, but haven’t had the chance to really curl up with and study.

curlyline

Well, I can report that I accomplished a lot last week, but not very much of it was stuff I had on my list! I tried a new recipe, organized my office a bit, and then several jewelry orders came in. By the time I finished them, the week had flown by.

I did have time to notice that the landscape in our neighborhood is just bursting with life. Everything is green again, and many of the flowering trees are in full bloom. Our daffodils are especially beautiful this year and seem to be lasting much longer than usual. They’re the inspiration for this week’s giveaway!

“Jonquils in Bloom” Earrings

These sparkling earrings feature *vintage* glass beads that were made in Czechoslovakia. You’ll notice both teardrop and bicone shapes in golden yellow with a soft aurora borealis finish.

Measurements: 1-3/4″ long, including the 14k gold filled earwires.

Today’s question is:

You’ve all probably heard of Dear Abby and her newspaper column, where people write in and ask her advice on all kinds of topics.

Pretend I am substituting for her this week and ask me a question. I’m not an expert on anything, but I’ve lived long enough to have absorbed some information on a wide range of things.

This doesn’t have to be a serious question. A funny question is welcome! And it certainly doesn’t have to be about anything personal – whatever you want. Something practical or silly or even educational would be great. Just remember this is a family blog!

(I think this could be fun, and maybe even helpful. If I don’t know an answer, I can surely look it up for you. If there are a lot of questions, I’ll answer some this week and others in upcoming posts.)

So, what would you like to “Ask Crystal”? 😉

Girls

Remember this old rhyme? 😉

“What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice,
And everything nice,
That’s what little girls are made of”
.

That verse was fluttering through my thoughts as I worked on this necklace set. I must say I’m crazy about the pendant – an amazing little treasure by polymer clay artist, Montse of Barcelona Spain. It’s whimsical but also elegant, so finding just the right beads was an interesting challenge.

I decided upon vintage West German and Czech Glass Beads in hues of midnight blue/black, with a spectacular aurora borealis finish. The colors are bright, but still muted enough that they don’t overpower the pendant.

curlyline

Is this little lady sweet or what? 🙂

And just look at the intricacy of the pendant frame! It truly is a miniature work of art.

Smiles,
