Giveaway – “Cape Cod Breeze” Earrings

Hi!

What is it they say about expect the unexpected? I guess it’s Murphy’s Law – anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

(Thanks Chris for missing me! 🙂 )

We planned a little get-away over last weekend. I prepared Friday’s post early and was just about to schedule it, so that I could move on to packing for the trip, when all of a sudden there was some issue on wordpress and I couldn’t post. The timing was such a nuisance, because I should have been gathering stuff into the suitcase instead of tearing my hair out on the computer! I finally had to give up trying to post and off we went for the weekend. (It was a nice trip by the way – more on that later.)

From the road on Saturday night, I had some brief internet access. Lo and behold, the wordpress glitch had miraculously resolved itself, so I was finally able to put up the Friday post then.

It’s funny how unnerving it can be when the blog goes a little wonky! 😉

But enough about that…. on to the GIVEAWAY!!!

This week’s giveaway is a slightly more delicate pair of dangle earrings – perfect for the gal who likes a little dangle but not the very-long length of the typical “shoulder duster” style.

aquacarvedroses

These “Cape Cod Breeze” Earrings feature gorgeous, dimensional, carved glass “roses” in a beautiful aqua sea blue. I’ve accented them with two sizes of Swarovski Jet AB 2X Crystals, which coordinate beautifully with the rose beads

Measurements: approximately 1-1/2″ long – including the sterling silver earwires.

This week, you will have up to four (4) chances to enter the weekly giveaway.

You can choose any or all of the following 4 ways to enter:

1st Chance:

2nd Chance:

Leave a comment answering the second weekly question: What skill do you most wish you could acquire, but don’t have enough time to learn?

3rd and 4th Chance: Leave a comment on any other post on this blog. It can be left on a recent post or an old post. There are over 150 posts – take a peek at the “Categories” on the right side of the page for choices. You can leave all of your comments today, or you can come back during the week to see what’s new and leave them then.

Please note: You do NOT have to tell me that you left a “comment” on another post. The blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them! 🙂

Of course, I’d be very delighted to receive as many comments as you want to leave, but only four will count as chances in this week’s giveaway.

Giveaway – “Cape Cod Breeze” Earrings — 74 Comments

  1. This happened YEARS ago but I can still feel the burn on my cheeks. A “female relative” gave me 3 pairs of underpants. The large granny type. In white. And they weren’t even in my size. I have a large bee-hind but it isn’t really as big as those giant panties were. And to top it off… this was Christmas family gift exchange time. I think the others were just as embarrassed as I was. NO ONE said a word. I quietly reboxed my wonderful panties, smiled and said thank you. Those panties stayed in a drawer for several years. I thought about regifting them to my Mom but didn’t. Couldn’t do it. 🙂

Ended up putting them in the trash years later.

  2. The strangest gift I ever received was a whip with cat oh nine tails. It was mailed to be my an exboyfriend who thought I would like it…Not! I gave it to a friend who was into that kind of stuff…

  3. I’d love to learn spainish or italian, but right now I don’t have the time to study foreign languages.

  4. My strangest gift was an American Indian doll that my husband got for me. it was about 18 inches tall and beautiful. He said since I am of American Indian heritage he thought I’d love it (and I do). I would have never guessed that one!

  5. I wish I could sing (or even carry a note). When my kids were little and I’d sing a lullaby, the kids would tell me to stop and they’d cover their ears – how sad is that?

  6. When I was a young girl, my aunt’s heart was in the right place, but every birthday she would give me these really fancy/kind of sexy nightgowns!
Please count me in your delightful earring giveaway drawing.
    Many thanks, Cindi

  7. What is the strangest/most unusual gift you have ever received?

For Christmas while living in Japan, my boyfriend bought me a rabbit for christmas. I named him Ocha. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/abigaillee/sets/1779538/). I loved that little baby. He passed away last year from cancer, though. Only 2 1/2 years old when he died. My poor baby Ocha. :o(

  8. What skill do you most wish you could acquire, but don’t have enough time to learn?

I wish I could sew and design my own clothes. I go to London College of Fashion, but I don’t sew at all! I am a historian. Not a designer. I wish I could draft patterns and make my own stuff. That would be amazing.

    Either that or millinery.

  9. Well, I opened the puter Monday AM and no you!! Really missed that.

I love the Granny Pantie comment! Sounds like a re-gift to me.

I honestly can’t think of a strange gift I have gotten. But I got a lot of flack from friends when Terry bought me my first Singer Steam Presser!
They said it was not a gift because it was an appliance. Well, it cost $300 and I thought it was so absolutely thoughtful for him to think of it when I couldn’t ever remember telling him I had even seen one. He just thought it would be a good thing for a sewer to have.

Since I wear shirts to work everyday, it is by far one of the best gifts I have ever received.

  10. Hey, I forgot to tell you how beautiful the earrings are! Love the color and the beads are beautiful.

I want to learn how to knit. O, I can knit and purl, but I want to know how to pick up dropped stitches, make sweaters and those beautifully lacy things that you can’t achieve as well with crochet.

  11. The most unusual gift I ever received was a Christmas egg tray. That would be because I’m allergic to eggs and I don’t celebrate Christmas. What makes it most unusual is it came from my parents.

  12. I wish I could learn to write well enough to get published. I have a lot to say but when I write it down it’s uninteresting 🙂

  13. What is the strangest/most unusual gift you have ever received?

Can it be “most special”? I received a Ching-dynasty coin previously belonged my grandma years ago. Wait…it’s more like I inherited it because my aunt gave it to me after grandma passed away. It’s a little strange — in a special way. =)

  14. The strangest gift I ever received was from a boyfriend in college. He had gone to mexico and brought back a GIGANTIC green frog bank. It was about almost 2 feet across and a foot and a half high! YUCK! First of all, as a college student I had no money, LOL, and I lived in a small apartment with very little room for essentials much less an enormous frog!

  15. First of all let me say that those earrings are so beautiful..and my favorite color…blue!
    Now, on to the question:
The skill that I would love to acquire would be to play the piano. We bought a piano for our son some 15 years ago and he was the only one who learned to play it. It now sits in our living room taking up space and losing its tune. He has since bought a digital keyboard and doesn’t own a house so it remains here. I probably would have the time to learn, just not the motivation.

  16. The strangest/most unusual gift I have ever received was when I was eight months pregnant and my hubby gave me an ankle bracelet. One no way was it going to fit and two I would have never been able to see it.

  17. A skill I most wish I could acquire, but don’t have enough time to learn is how to do pottery.

  18. One year my father gave me not one but two food processors, just in case I broke one, like I had with the one he had given me before!!!

  19. I would love to learn how to knit, but as a single mother who works two jobs, I just do not have the time right now!

  20. The most strange and unusual gift I would have to save are 3 of them. They would have to be my kids. I love them all and they are all so very different. They sometimes make my life a living hell, but in the end it is worth every minute in it. I love them all so very much. Without these kids my life would not be complete. They make my life worth living. Sometimes they exhaust you to the point of the aches and pains of getting up in the morning but they are what make you get up at all.

  21. I love your designs and should I win, I know exactly who I would give your earrings to . . .she would love them and they would match an outfit that she is going to be getting for Christmas . . .making her a dance costume!
I do not take the time to dream very much . . .to busy! But learning French/Spanish might be fun.

  22. a 5′ christmas tree, with stand, 2 boxes of blue ornaments, 2 of pink and 2 strings of lights…delivered to my dorm room in college.

  23. I would love to learn to do stained glass! But there isn’t a class in my area and it would be an hour and a half drive each way just to attend the nearest class. Who has that kind of time??

  24. Hmmm…the oddest gift I ever received is a tie between a cannister of Planter’s Cheese Balls all wrapped up with a lovely bow and the half a sweater my aunt knit for me when I was a teenager. Really, what does one do with half of a sweater?!

  25. I’d love to learn a new language. I never got to take spanish in high school. I’d also love to take up American Sign Language.

  26. A skill I would like to acquire is learning to play a musical instrument…probably either the piano or guitar. I tried both briefly as a child, but never went any further with them.

I also would love to take painting/art classes.

  27. The strangest gift I’ve ever gotten was a greeting card sent from a friend. It was plain purple and had a small hole punched through it, with an arrow underneath. The caption said “Know what this is?”

That’s it. There were no words on the inside of the card, and I didn’t get it. =P I still don’t.

  28. The oddest gift I actually got was a mouthwash dispenser? Who even knew they made such a thing. Also, the same person gave my husband a salt grinder filled with salt for Christmas one year. Just for the records it wasn’t fancy or anything special.

  29. The one thing I’d love to learn to do is bake bread. I’ve tried but can’t get the hang of it and I’m sure its going to take me a lot longer to learn than I have time for

  30. The strangest gift I ever received – was when I was about 8 or 9 years old … during a trip to a restaurant with family, someone drew me, and gave the picture to my grandma. A couple years later she gave it to me.

    It was totally creepy!

  31. I most wish that I could learn how to make patchwork quilts. But I have a baby due very soon, and know I won’t have any time at all to sit and learn.

    Maybe in a few years!

  32. a scrapbook kit that was opened and my friend decided she didn’t want to scrapbook …. it was my birthday gift the next year!

  33. Strangest gift: I asked my very wonderful but non romantic fiancee to give me roses once in a while. In my mind, that is a bouquet purchased at a florist in a nice vase with baby’s breath and ribbon. But to him, it was just roses…so at the fire house where he worked out in the country, he found a big empty coffee can, filled it with water (didn’t wrap the can with anything) and jammed holes into its plastic lid…..plucked several roses in a wide variety of colors & sizes and stuffed them through the holes.

Wow, when he presented that to me it said SO much about how we communicate and how we think! I just didn’t have the heart to tell him what I’d really wanted. After he brought home another “can” of flowers (lol) I said I didn’t need flowers all the time, I just wanted to know what it was like to receive them.

Well, we’ve been together over 30 years since then. Gotta keep a guy like that who is so determined to make his girl happy!

  34. most strange awkward gift i received was probably the XXXL free tshirt from my grandma’s local petting zoo that said “senior citizen day”…the thought that counts!

  35. I would like to be an avid kayaker but definitely don’t have the time or equipment right now

  36. The weirdest gift I have received is a pullover fleece coat with a cat head embroidered on it… it was a small cat head… but a cat head all the same… 🙂

  37. The strangest gift I ever received was a “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” pc game from my husband on my first birthday as a married couple.

  38. I desperately want to learn rug hooking. I’m too much of a perfectionist and don’t want to commit the time I know I would require. (Not until the kids are out of school.)

  39. Strangest gift I ever received is someone’s acceptance letter to a school I wanted to go to, with his name crossed out and mine handwritten in. Wasn’t really legally binding, but was a nice thought on his part as to his belief in my scholastic abilities =P
