Contest Rules and How To Enter
1. Leave a comment that mentions your pet peeve. For example mine is: I’m leaving a store and because I see someone else behind me, I pause in the doorway and hold the door open. I assume that this person will then reach out to put his or her hand on the door so I can let go and be on my way. But instead (and it seems to be happening a lot lately!) people just breeze by me without a word – as if I were their own personal door-holder! That bugs me!
Describe what bugs you 😉 and that will give you one chance to win.2. For a second chance to win, leave a second comment that answers the question: When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper; put it in an envelope; put a stamp on it and mailed it?
3. For a third chance to win, leave a comment describing the last time you dressed fancy . . . What did you wear and what was the occasion?
**You can choose any one or all of the above chances to enter.**
A valid email address must be given at time of entry. You must be 18 yrs. old. The name of the winner will be added to this post after the completion of the contest and the winner will be notified by email. The prize will be sent by USPS First Class Mail. If no valid email address is given at time of entry, or if winner fails to respond to email within 3 days from the time notification email has been sent, the win will be null and void and a new winner will be chosen.
All entries must be received by 10:00 p.m. EST on 01/18/09, and the winner will be selected on or about 01/19/09.
Thanks for participating and Good Luck to all!

O Crystal, where do you come up with these questions that I feel compelled to answer!
OK, 37 years ago I dressed up pretty fancy. I wore a long white dress with a train. Not my choice of dress, but mine was stolen out the back door of the shop and I could pick another quickly, since I needed it one week later. I wore a long white veil, a blue garter a borrowed necklace and had grandma’s antique hankie in my bra.
Yep, I got married that day. Can’t ever remember dressing fancy since then, unless you count embellished denim!
Ok, you really don’t want to have pet peeves. Ideally you try not to let thoses little things iritate you and you are much happier. However, you spend the time conversing with your husband. Then he asks a really stupid question….o….sorry not stupid…he just didn’t listen with both ears to what you were saying. So, not a pet peave at all. Just one of those little things I like to call “endearing”. That has helped keep us “listening” to each other for 37 years.
Thought I was going to complain about people who talk on the cell phone when they should be paying attention to their driving, didn’t you!
I don’t know exactly when I mailed a hand written note. But I do do it. Usually a note to an elderly person….thinking of them…get well…sympathy…those are notes that always must be mailed. My cyber friends get them via cyber mail, unless I know their address.
Its better to keep in touch no matter how its done. But I have to admit I love email.
I LOVE these questions!
Pet peeve: (This happens more and more…where did manners go?) I absolutely HATE when I am friendlier than the salesperson who is helping me and being paid to be friendly. I say, ‘Hi, how are you today?’ and often times get little to no response. I’ve worked alot of customer service, so this just drives me nuts!
Mailed a letter??:
This is a tough one, but I think it was waaay back in ’97-’98 when I had a friend move to Colorado…this was early in the computer era, so we wrote letters and it was alot of fun…we’d cut out pictures and make little scrapbook type letters. An early blog!!
Dressed fancy?:
Depends how fancy we’re talking…my friend got married in November. I’m pregnant, so I got to (had to?) buy a new outfit. Simple black dress pants with the big belly band, hot pink dress shirts with a pink tie bow on the side and a grey sweater. Not what I would choose to wear if I weren’t pregnant, but there ya have it!
one pet peeve of mine is when people chew their food with their mouth open! gross!
the last time i mailed a letter was…hmm, in 2006.
i dressed fancy for the last halloween party and went as a Victorian woman…you know, from the old days. that was fun!
Aw geez… pet peeves… urr… OH! Got one. When people (mainly bus drivers) are stuck in traffic and like to move and stop every second. SO ANNOYINGLY UNCOMFORTABLE. And it’s not like another car would be able to fit in a space of thirty centimetres or less. Urgh.
I wrote a letter to my friend in Denver last year. And I still need to get around to sending her birthday present, which was in August. (I just don’t like post offices. Plus I’m a teensy weensy bit forgetful…)
Last time I dressed fancy was probably… for my fifth birthday or something. Bright pink, frilly dress, ruffled socks, the lot. I still have the… thing. It kinda freaks me out now… and I think there’s a stain on the skirt.
I dropped chocolate cream and… thankfully, it landed on my polyester dress. It’s a helluva lot harder to get it off carpet. Plus, I reckon it deserved it.
I feel bad saying this but my boyfriend makes me have one of my biggest pet peeves. He always drives around the parking lot making sure that we get the closest spot. Even if he pulls down a lane where a bunch of people are walking. It bothers me because we are healthy and very capable of walking. Sometimes we could be in the store already instead of still trying to park!!!
I mailed some christmas cards this year and included a letter in some of them to some of my family. I also have a great aunt who is 90!! A few times a year i will write her a letter and try to send a couple pictures..the best thing is ,she can still see good enough to read it… I Love my Aunt Ella:)
The last time i really dressed up was in 2006 for my mom’s wedding. I was able to pick out any dress i wanted and i got the cutest purple “fairy like”dress.I wore it one more time to one of my mothers work dinners last year also. Definitely feeling the need to dress up again soon:)
Fun questions and contest, i enjoy your blog!!
Cheers:)
One of pet peeves is when drivers don’t signal their turns!
I sent Christmas cards, does that count?
I was last dressed up for a work Christmas party, new glittery dress and all!
Gorgeous jewelery!
One of my pet peeves is when people say they’ll call you back in a few minutes and then you don’t hear from them for a day or two and then they call and act like nothing happened. Or I can’t stand when people don’t rinse there dishes lol. Thanks for entering me this necklace is beautiful!
I write letters all the time, I really love a hand written letter over email anyday its so much more personal and I wish more people would go back to the pen and paper days! Thanks.
I dress up often, whenever I feel like it haha. I love wearing dresses and skirts it makes me feel girly. Sometimes I’ll dress up just to run errands and then I get the common question “whats the occasion?” In the winter I like to wear black dress pants with sparkly shirts or babydoll tops. Thanks.
pet peeve: people who won’t help themselves
last time I wrote a letter, put a stamp on it, and mailed it: last week, to my daughter
dressed up all fancy!….let’s see, must have been at a wedding last summer!
My biggest pet peeve is simple: People who just don’t have manners. I really, really, really hate that. Open doors for people. Say THANK you. PLEASE. Things like that.
GRRRR!!!
Ok…
Done “peeving”
The last letter I wrote?? That’s easy?? I love to write and receive letters!! The last letter I wrote was to my friend in Calif and that was probably right before the holidays.
The last time I dressed fancy was when we were on a cruise for formal night. We were celebrating our 15 wedding anniversary and I wore a black/white embroidered skirt (and it even had a bit of a pouf) to it and a really pretty black top with a key neckline that had a bit of “bling” in the key. I felt really pretty in it…but my HUBBY…he looked SO dapper!!
Wow, great questions to answer =)
Pet peeve… would have to be using chopsticks that don’t match. I’m not joking.
The last time I hand wrote a letter and sent it via snail mail was 2 weeks ago. There’s something that’s just really exciting about opening your mailbox and seeing something personally addressed to you waiting for you
Last time I dressed up formally would have been at a school dance, maybe Homecoming? I haven’t in a while so yeah, the memory’s a little foggy.
The last time I dressed fancy was for my daughters wedding. I wore a long black sleeveless knit dress. I really like the dress and hope I can wear it again someday. It was a pretty simple plain dress but I always think the saying “less is more” is really true.
It is hard to even remember writing a letter since the computer came to be. I guess a post card on vacation last year would be the closest thing to a letter.
My biggest pet peeve is when people have loud and annoying cell phone conversations in public places. Like I really want to hear their conversation! Geez…
The last time I wrote a letter was around Christmas to my father.
The last time I dressed fancy was at a a Christmas party. I wore a nice blouse and a pretty black skirt with heels.
my pet peave is someone who follows me too close when I am driving. That really makes me mad! thanks jacquecurl@gmail.com
The last letter I wrote was about 10 days ago to my sister, who is in jail. thanks jacquecurl@gmail.com
BIG pet peeve: People talking on their cell phones while in line at a store, restaurant, etc.
I dressed fancy for a Christmas Eve party!
The last time I dressed up was last saturaday. Me and my boyfriend took my mom out to eat and books-a- milion. thanks jacquecurl@gmail.com
The last paper letter I wrote was about 10 years ago when I was away at college.
My biggest pet peeve. Waiting for a delivery or service man that is coming between 12 and 2 p.m and finally shows up at 4:30.
My last letter I wrote was to my mom about 15 years ago.
The last time I dressed fancy was at my youngest daughters wedding.
My pet peeve is on the highways when one lane is blocked and the lanes merge. The drivers who keep going in the blocked lane until the very end and then want to cut in causing even more traffic congestion!!!!! Lovely necklace…..Thanks, Cindi
I frequently send written letters to a Swiss exchange student that we hosted some 14 years ago. Thanks for a chance to win your lovely necklace. Cindi
My husband and I don’t go out very much, but when we went to dinner a couple of weeks ago, I got fancied up. At least, as fancy as I ever get!
Cindi
My pet peeve is when people don’t cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze – or they do cover their mouths, then touch something public like a doorhandle or something. I guess I’m a little OCD about germs!
My pet peeve is when people accuse you of something, spread lies about you without even talking to you and asking if this is really true. I mean pretty bad stuff…sorry yeh…bitter.
You know I think my note in the mail would go back about a year ago when I mailed it to my daughter who then lived across the country.
Dressed up? Was last for a Christmas banquet 2008.
My major pet peeve is when people put salt and pepper on their food that I have made without tasting it first! Drives me crazy!
