Friday Favorites

Friday, already? 😉

With the holiday on Monday, the week seemed to fly; didn’t it?

For this edition of Friday Favorites, I have a fall-ish illustration from a vintage children’s book.

I’ll bet you can still remember crunching through the autumn leaves when you were a kid, and maybe even choosing a few pretty ones to take into the house with you!

Speaking of being young…..

Here’s a quote with a youthful theme . . .

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.”

~Henry Ford

Have a super special weekend, Kids!

See ya Monday 🙂

Opinions Wanted

It’s Friday, which often means Friday Favorites here on the blog. “Usually” I post things that are my favorites.

But today, the topic is your favorite things.

In September, I’ll be going back to writing all new posts. My goal is to have the blog be as interesting as possible for you, and so I think it’s a good idea for me to get your feedback now and then.

In light of that, would you mind offering your opinion by answering any or all of the following questions? Thank you so much!

1. I especially like it when Crystal writes about ______. (You can list more than one thing here.)

2. Posts about _____ are not as interesting to me.

3. Please consider adding posts about ________. I’m really interested in that.

4. A blog should be humorous, sometimes. True or False

5. If I have commented on a post, I usually come back to see if there’s been a reply to my comment. True or False

6. Now and then, I enjoy posts with recipes. True or False

7. I would consider emailing Crystal a photo of my pet, or a favorite “toy”, or favorite meal I prepared, or a project I’m working on, to share with the whole group. True or False

Everyone is getting an “A” on this test! 😉 There are no wrong answers here.

Happy weekend, Kids!! I’ll be in the middle of preparations for my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary party, which is coming up very soon.

See ya Monday!

Slow Dance

I bumped into this sweet little poem and just had to share it with you . . .

At first glance, it looks a bit long, but it’s really a quick read!

Thank you for your visits and comments this week! I appreciate it so much. 😀

Happy weekend! See ya Monday!

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask “How are you?”
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Ever told your child,
We’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
‘Cause you never had time
To call and say “Hi”?
You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift….
Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

TGIF

It’s going to be a lovely weekend.

(She said confidently!) 😉

Even though we have a bunch of boring spring/summer chores to do, I’m taking a positive approach and concentrating on ways we can enjoy a few little breaks in the action . . .

I’ve stocked up on our favorite snacks, and will make a nice dinner on Saturday night. By the time Sunday evening rolls around, we’ll be more than ready to put our feet up – maybe watch a movie from our stash of “bargain” DVDS.

I hope you have a good time, too!

See you Monday 😀

Friday Favorites – Wash Day

hearts-border31

For this week’s Friday Favorites, I have a vintage image and a great quotation for you!

curlyline

Here’s a young lady who means business when she does the laundry. She gathers everything!

I hope it’s a warm day for the sake of her dolls. 😉

WashDayForDolls

I love this quote. It really is the definition of happiness, don’t you think?

We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.
