They Say It’s Your Birthday Giveaway — 52 Comments

  1. Congrats!! Isn’t the internet world amazing ๐Ÿ™‚
    Of course i already stalk on facebook as well as here. I hope your summer is going well.
    I’m mobile now with a mobility scooter so i’m enjoying the summer more and sending in a new disability application this week.

  2. I’ve not been a member very long, but since this is a beading/jewelry blog, I would like to see something regarding jewelry making – simple items to begin with, like types of beads and fasteners, etc.
    I’d love to make jewelry, but haven’t a clue on how to begin.

  3. Here is a favorite summer dip for fruit that we use a lot. It’s fast and easy:

    Small package instant vanilla pudding
    8 oz of sour cream
    Mix together thoroughly and let set in fridge till firm
    Serve with apples, strawberries or other fruits

  4. Summer recipe:

    Almost Instant Baked Alaska by Rachael Ray

    One 12-ounce frozen pound cake, thawed slightly and sliced
    1 quart vanilla ice cream, thawed slightly
    One 12-ounce package frozen raspberries, thawed slightly
    Two 7.5-ounce jars marshmallow cream, such as Marshmallow Fluff

    Arrange the cake slices in the bottom of an 8-inch square metal cake pan and top
    with the ice cream; freeze until solid. Meanwhile, using a food processor, puree the
    raspberries; strain and discard the seeds. Preheat the broiler. Top the ice cream
    cake with the marshmallow cream and broil until golden, about 3 minutes. Slice
    and serve with the raspberry sauce.

  5. I already Like you, and I like you on FB too!

    I would like to hear about how you are promoting your jewelry sales. Do you do more than post on FB? I know several artists who have really enhanced sales through FB, but I think they spend a LOT of time promoting.

    Happy Blogaversary!
    xx, Carol

  6. Happy Blogiversary Sweetie and here’s to many many more, cheers!

    I like on FB (jc loh), thanks for the so pretty giveaway.

  7. I like your page..I shared it with my friends….and I would like to see more jewerly for prizes…and I do hope to win the beautiful earrings.

  8. I love to read your blog! And would love to suggest some column where another bloggers could exchange ideas, different technics and how-do jewellery!

  9. My favourite summer recipe: Creamy Asparagus Soup by Dutch girl (my fave blog of cooking http://www.kayotic.nl)
    Ingredients:
    1 pound white asparagus; 3 oz boursin; 3 cups of water; 1 vegetable bouillon cube;
    1 tsp grainy mustard; 2 oz aged Gouda cheese or sharp cheddar; fresh parsley
    salt and pepper.
    Optional: splash of dry white wine

    Directions:
    Wash and peel the asparagus. Start below the head and work towards the cut end.
    Cut off about 1 1/2 or 2 inch. Cut the asparagus in small pieces. Add 3 cups of water and the vegetable bouillon cube or plain salt. Bring to a boil and cook them until really tender, 6 to 8 minutes. Feel free to add a good splash of dry white wine for a more adult version of this soup. Itโ€™s delicious. If you have some boursin in your fridge, add roughly 3 to 4 oz to the tender asparagus and liquid. Canโ€™t buy boursin where you live? Just add cream cheese and various dried or fresh herbs instead.
    As soon as the Boursin has melted into the soup (itโ€™ll look grainy) you turn it into a smooth concoction using an immersion blender or regular blender. Stir in 1 tsp grainy mustard, this adds a lovely kick. And this is what makes the soup: grated aged Gouda cheese or sharp cheddar. Stir it in until it melts. Finish the soup with parsley and salt and pepper to taste. Serve with loads of lightly buttered crusty country bread and prepare for a flavor bomb!
    That’s it!

  10. As for a future topic, I always love everything you write about. You never fail to make me think with your posts and questions.
    One thing I have been thinking about that has come up several times lately is skeletons in the closet or secrets. Well, not necessarily in the bad sense, I have just had a few friends tell me things that I never knew about them & I have known them for a long time. Good things, not disturbing things. For example, one friend told me that she had been volunteering at a senior living facility for several years and I had no idea because she had never mentioned it before. Just little things like that, if that makes sense. I guess I am saying that maybe you don’t know people as well as you think you do. Another friend told me she had been a vegetarian for 15 years (I am also), but I thought, how did I not know that before now??? Maybe something interesting & unexpected that people do not know about you for a future post. Just an idea.
    As for a summer recipe, since I do not ever cook, I will have to think about that one. My current favorite that I have been eating every day is fresh tomatoes and cucumbers with salt!!! LOL, that’s about all I can handle!

  11. I agree with a previous comment. I would love to see a how-to for beginners tutorial on beading simple jewelry. I won a couple of handmade lampwork beads on a giveaway and don’t know how to string them into a nice piece of jewelry, except on a piece of silk thread with a knot, which looks terrible.

  12. I like you on FB (Kelly Ann T). Happy Anniversary and thanks for all the fun thru the years.

  13. I love the question of the week, and anything about what you and sir beads are doing. I like the shopping trips too.

  14. Fruit Salad
    1 cup mandarin orange (drained)
    1 cup pineapple (tidbits drained)
    1 cup fat free sour cream
    1 cup marshmallows (miniature)
    1 cup apple (peeled, cored, and chopped)

    1.Mix altogether.
    2.Cover bowl.
    3.Refrigerate.
    4.(Refrigerating your canned fruits and apple will make it ready to eat as soon as you assemble.).

    You can leave out the oranges and substitute grapes. Some recipes call for celery too, but Mr. Picky will not touch then.

  15. Our favorite recipice for a cool sumer smoothie

    One package of strawberries
    One and half bananas
    1 1/2 milk ( any type)

    In addition you can substitute honey for the sugar, and add in any type of health shake, or just chocolate powder =)

  16. I like you on fb i am May Aung
    Maybe it would be fun to do like an online book discussion on your summer reads page, that would be fun.

    Fav summer recipe,

  18. I liked on facebook, my fb name is Lily Strange.

    My favourite summer recipe is the Tiramisรน:

    for the coffee dip
    * 1 -1/2 cups (360 cc) espresso coffee
    * 2 teaspoons sugar

    for the zabaglione filling
    * 4 egg yolks
    * 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
    * 1/2 cup (120 cc) Marsala wine (if unavailable, substitute with another sweet wine like Port or Madeira)
    * 1 lb (450 g) mascarpone cheese at room temperature
    * 1-1/2 cup (360 cc) heavy whipping

    for the base
    * 10 oz (285 g) savoiardi (ladyfinger cookies) (approximately 40)
    * 2 tablespoons bitter cocoa powder

    preparing the coffee dip
    Prepare a strong espresso coffee, about 1ยฝ cups (360 cc).
    Dissolve 2 teaspoons of sugar in the coffee when the coffee is still hot. Let the coffee cool to room temperature.

    Beat the egg yolks in a heat proof bowl or in the bowl of a double boiler until they become fluffy.
    Beat in the sugar . . .
    . . . and the Marsala wine.

    Transfer the bowl over a pan of simmering water, and whisk until the cream thickens. The zabaglione will thicken just before it boils, when small bubbles appear.

    Mash the mascarpone cheese in a bowl with a rubber spatula until creamy.
    Add the zabaglione into the mascarpone cheese and beat to mix very well.
    Whip the cream. Fold the whipped cream into the zabaglione cheese cream until smooth.

    assembling the cake

    Lightly soak the ladyfingers in the coffee, one at a time. Place them in one layer in a container about 12 x 8 inches, approximately 2 inches deep (or a 30 x 20 cm container, approximately 4 cm deep).

    Evenly distribute half of the zabaglione cream over the ladyfingers.
    Repeat the step with a second layer of ladyfingers and top with the rest of the cream.
    Sprinkle with the cocoa powder and refrigerate for about 3 โ€“ 4 hours

    5 medium plum tomatoes, halved lengthwise, seeded, and thinly sliced
    1/4 red onion, peeled, halved lengthwise, and thinly sliced

    A generous drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil, about 2 tablespoons
    2 splashes red wine vinegar
    Coarse salt and black pepper

    Directions:
    Dress the tomatoes, onions, and cucumber with olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper.
    Let stand while you prepare dinner, about 20 minutes. Re-toss and serve salad with crusty bread for mopping up juices and oil.
