Giveaway – Gift of Athena Earrings

oscarsm1Hello there! πŸ™‚

How was your weekend? Did you watch the Oscars?

We had a touch of Spring in New England! The bright sunshine and temperatures in the 50’s seemed to energize both people and wildlife, here. Birds were chirping and neighbors were hiking and biking. I actually started a little “spring cleaning”, but not too much. After all, the weekend should be more play than work, don’t you think? πŸ˜‰

For this week’s giveaway, I have a unique pair of earrings. The color palette reminds me of ancient Greek pottery that I’ve seen in our local art museum. The rich gold, black, and coppery bronze are wonderful neutrals that will coordinate with lots of things in your wardrobe.

For the focal points, I chose Vintage West German Lucite beads in the shape of roses. They’re a burnished golden hue with a beautiful 3-dimensional effect. The roses are accented with Swarovski Jet Crystals and copper-colored, faceted glass rondelles. For pierced ears, these earrings measure 2″ in length – including the artisan crafted, 14k gold-filled earwires.

Contest Rules and How To Enter

Any day you leave a comment on this blog – it is counted as a chance to enter that week’s giveaway.

For example, if you answer today’s question (you’ll find it below!) that will give you one chance.

But if you then come back another day this week and comment on a different post – you will have earned another chance in this week’s giveaway! There are usually 4-5 posts per week – Monday through Friday – so you can have multiple chances to enter!

When you comment you do not have to mention that it’s an entry in the giveaway. My blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them, and all will count to be entered into the drawing! πŸ˜€

Today’s question is:

To go along with the “Oscars” theme . . . What famous person do other people tell you that you most resemble?

If you can’t think of an answer to that question, here’s another . . . Who is your favorite actor (or actress) of all time along with his/her best movie role?

  1. Hi Sweetie!

Those earrings are stunners!!! I love that black and copper color combination. The beads you chose are so pretty, and your design is beautiful….as usual!!!

My very favorite actor in the whole wide world, is Gregory Peck. Aside from his wonderful acting, he was so gorgeous and I loved his voice! My favorite movie has always been To Kill A Mockingbird.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend Crystal!

    xoxo’s Paulette πŸ˜‰

  2. Aww- no one EVER says I look like anyone else. It’s aggravating but true. Hollywood likes Northern European White People , and I am not such.

Not that I don’t like some Hollywood faces plenty! Nathan Fillion is my favorite actor of Ever, and it’s not just the Captain Tightpants thing (though, bonus!); he’s got just amazing expressions, and does wonders showing emotion with his voice, too. But he’s only had the one movie role, so Captain Mal in Serenity it is!

  3. Hey Crissie!! Great Earrings!!

All my life I have been told I look like someone famous.

It started out with Sophia Lauren. I never saw that resemblance.
    Then it was Stephanie Powers.
    Then it was Jackie Smith.
Now, OMG, this is a constant comment made and I abolutely HATE it….. Sara Palin.

I think it all has to do with having reddish hair and the way I wear it, which has changed over the years.

BUT, I am eternally grateful that no one thinks I look like that Chimp in Every Which Way But Loose,
    Or the Taco Bell Dog
    Or Spuds McKenzie.

My fav actor is and will always be Paul Newman. I could never say what my favorite role or most powerful role was because I loved absolutely EVERYTHING he did.

And just for the record..I thought the Oscar Show was boring this year. The MC’s missed the boat. The dresses were FAB but where was the jewelry!!

So Glad the Hurt Locker walked away with it. Super Good movie that I watched with the boys.

    xx, Carol

  4. I would pity the famous person that would resemble me! Can’t think of anyone I would wish that on! Instead, I can tell you I really had someone flabergasted on the phone not too long ago because they thought I sounded like Jennifer Lopez.
    P.S. These earrings are stunning!

  5. I wish that I looked like someone famous!!! I absolutely loved Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Cheesy, I know but I love it!

  6. Those earrings are so beautiful πŸ™‚

And nobody told me I look like a certain celebrity before. Well okay, some said I look like Emma Watson when I was younger..like 12, but we don’t look alike at all now πŸ˜›

I think most girls my age feel this way, but my favourite actor has to be mr Depp, yup. I just love seeing Johnny Depp on screen. He’s a great actor and I especially liked his role in Finding Neverland. Most of the roles he plays are deep, charming in their own ways and will truly capture you πŸ™‚

  7. very nice earrings =]
Since i’m asian, so ziyi zhang would be the one that resembles me

  8. My favourite actress is helena bonham carter I love her in room with a view, sweeny todd, and alice in wonderland .Thanks fingers crossed. Marian

  9. I love Julie Andrews, and while I loved her in “The Sound of Music,” I really would have liked to have seen her cast in the movie version of “My Fair Lady.” Too bad they gave it to Audrey Hepburn :-/

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. Absolutely a knockout. You get the Jewelry Making Oscar!!

When I was younger, much younger, LOL!!… I was told I looked like Valerie Bertinelli from One Day At A Time. Anyone remember that show? I am dating myself, yes, I know. πŸ˜€

  11. Apparently, I look like Lucy Liu XD
I’ve only ever seen her with Cillian Murphy in Watching the Detectives, and I don’t think we look that alike. But, oh well.

    Gorgeous earrings.

  12. Can you believe I’m here looking for Tuesday’s post…instead of being late, I’m way too early! hee hee hee! xoxo’s anyway! Paulette

  13. Hi

I’ve never been told I look like someone famous – no dopplegangers for me I guess πŸ™‚ thanks for the chance to win such gorgeous earrings! As for favourite actor I think Johnny Depp has to be one of my favourites – I loved “Curse of the Black Pearl” and can’t wait to see Alice in Wonderland πŸ™‚

  14. I don’t think I look like anyone famous, but a long time favourite is Tilda Swinton, she always seems to play interesting characters, and I absolutely loved her in Orlando.

  15. People say I look like Geraldine Chaplin when she was younger. I hope I don’t look like her in her new film Wolfman! Gerard Butler’s movies have been very good lately. He’s my current favorite.

  16. I’ve always been told that I resemble Lucy Liu…but I think it’s just because I’m Asian:)

  17. I love the vintage look of these – Natalie Wood is what I hear – which I will take as a compliment – she has a timeless elegance.

    thank you for this.

  18. Never been told that I resembled anyone famous. Favorite actor, hands down: Humphrey Bogart. Oh Bogie … yum. I’ve always loved Casablanca, and I think he’s at his dreamiest in that role. Too bad he’s dead and all.

  19. i’ve never been told who i look like…
but my fave actress is kate winslet. she is phenomenal! i loved her in the reader.

  21. I’ve been told Kim Cattral and more recently (and I quote) “you look like that blonde lady from Mad TV”..no one ever seemed to know her name.

I’ll have to say my favorite actor is Johnny Depp. He can do anything. Loved him as Jack Sparrow.

  22. People sometimes say I look like Jessica Alba, which I take as a huge compliment! I don’t really think there’s a resemblance.

  23. I had someone tell me once that I looked like the lead singer for the Bangles. I think that was a hysterically exaggerated pickup line. Maybe the hair…I did have the 80s perm going on back in the day.
My favorite actor is Nicolas Cage. I adore him in Moonstruck. There’s just something about him being all sweaty with that greasy hair, tossing that bread in the oven. Oh…sorry, I lost my train of thought there for a second.
I also really like anything with John Cusack in it. I liked him best in probably one of his least known films…Better Off Dead. Actually I’d watch anything with either of these guys in it, even if it was in another language with no subtitles. πŸ™‚

  24. Harrison Ford is my favorite actor, in any role he has done. I guess I would say Star Wars.

  25. I get Liv Tyler, Mandy Moore, Amanda Peete. Basically, brown hair and blue eyes are the key.

Those beads in the earrings are beautiful! I love them.

    Great giveaway, thanks!
    Amy

  26. Just gorgeous earrings.

I always say that I look like someone’s “sister” or “didn’t I go to school with you??”…I just must have one of those familiar faces–but haven’t ever been told that I looked like anyone famous–LOL!

Anyway…for me–I would have to say-I love Audrey Hepburn–and would have to say Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

  27. My favorite actors are Johnny Depp with “Edward Scissorhands” and Robin Williams with “Mrs. Doubtfire” and “Jumanji”.

  28. When I was younger, I was told I looked like Darryl Hannah. I think it was just the blonde hair!! I also got the girl who played the lead in Valley Girl (don’t remember her name—that was in the early 80’s!) but I never understood why.
My favorite actress is Audrey Hepburn; she is so elegant & timeless. Loved Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

    LOVELY earrings, as usual Crystal!!

    1. I’m told by a few that I look like Nicole Kidman in the 80’s. I’m not sure if I really see it, but there it is.
