Giveaway- Signs of Spring Earrings

snowflakeperiwinkleOh, hi there. 🙂

Welcome to my weekly giveaway!

You know, winter can be so beautiful when everything is covered in a fresh blanket of snow . . . but once that snow melts – the bare brown landscape looks awfully bleak. It’s then that I begin to look for signs of Spring.

Now, when I think “Spring”, the color green, um, “springs” to mind. (Sorry for the pun; I couldn’t resist.) 😉

I designed these earrings as a reminder that the trees will soon be in bud again!

“Signs of Spring”

I chose shades of peridot and olivine green. You’ll notice both artisan-crafted lampwork glass beads and Swarovski crystals, which are embellished with lacey bead caps. All of the metal components are sterling silver – including the artisan-crafted sterling silver earwires. Total length: 1-5/8” inches.

Contest Rules and How To Enter

Any day you leave a comment on this blog – it is counted as a chance to enter that week’s giveaway.

For example, if you answer today’s question (you’ll find it below!) that will give you one chance.

But if you then come back another day this week and comment on a different post – you will have earned another chance in this week’s giveaway! There are usually 4-5 posts per week – Monday through Friday – so you can have multiple chances to enter!

When you comment you do not have to mention that it’s an entry in the giveaway. My blog program shows me all of the “comments” as they come in – so I do not miss any of them, and all will count to be entered into the drawing! 😀

Today’s question is:

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Giveaway- Signs of Spring Earrings — 74 Comments

  1. Yummy Earrings. Come on Spring…especially since we are under a winter storm watch….15 inches headed our way!

This is the hardest question you ever asked me. The first thing that comes to mind; Watch out, the dog is behind you. That didn’t quite register quickly enough as I tripped over Jack and fell on my a**.

Or maybe when we painted the house 30+ years ago. I was in my Southwest stage and wanted that shade of the palest coral with dark brown trim. When the paint was wet it was a lavendar. Terry said take it back. The paint dried and it was CORAL. Laurie called it pink. She says she never invited friends here because we lived in a pink house. She says when they rode by on the bus, she got off with kids down the road because she didn’t want anyone to see our pink house. You know, it was a good look. All the neighbors loved the color. But as time goes by, stories get enhanced and exaggerated so I am the brunt of the joke. Thats ok by me. Its what makes life good.

As you may think, not many people give me advice, BEFORE I jump in!
    xx, Carol

  2. lovely earings!! Here in Ontario,Canada we still have quite a wait for that first glimpse of green:)

  3. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Everything comes to an end, so no matter how badly you’re suffering you should focus on the fact that soon enough it will be over.

  4. The best advice I received was from my best friend. After going through a divorce, my friend (who is also my ex-husband’s sister!) encouraged me to go out with a friend of her husband’s. I was reluctant; I knew him through her so it was not a blind date. I did not think that he was my type. Boy, was I wrong! She said, “What’s the worst that can happen? You may have a bad time, but you won’t have to have a second date. At least you will get taken out to dinner!” We got married 11 months later.

My friend was very proud of her matchmaking abilities. I’m so glad I took her advice.

  5. The best advice I ever received? I’ve been sitting here pondering this question. Now if you had asked me what was the “worst” advice…I would’ve started typing like I was in a contest. Wait, this is a contest…well, sort of. I mean, wow…those are some seriously to-die-for green earrings up there. lol
Ok, back to the best advice. The only thing that comes to mind is a friend advising me not to worry so much about what other people think. Back when we were trying to conceive (for 8 long years…what a story that would make), we opted for alternative treatments. I was pretty afraid of what others may think. Most were supportive. I’m sure though, there are some hens out there still clucking it up. It’s hard, not to worry if “others will approve” of things we do with our lives. It is a nice feeling when you thumb your nose at the naysayers, rest assured in what you know is right, and ignore what Hyacinth Bucket thinks.

  6. The best advice I’ve ever been given is actually a Yogi Berra Quote: “When you come to the fork in the road, take it!”

    It’s still my favorite quote.

  7. Hi Crystal!!!!What a lovely pair of earrings!!!!!! The best advice I received is Don’t advise me I know be wrong alone! I don’t know if my translation can be understood…:-(

    A big hug!!!!!

    Crystal says: Hi Janil 🙂
I am guessing that the quote translates to: Don’t advise me – I know how to be wrong all by myself!

  8. Two things come to mind… one professional and the other personal.

When I was a young thing just starting out my management career, a boss told me not to be a perfectionist, it wasted time. So true. Be confident you’ve done your best. Don’t second guess everything.

And the other wasn’t actually words of advice. More of a challenge. From my mother on the day hubby and I got married. She said to me, “You two won’t last a year.” Well, I am sure she remembers those words each July when she wishes us Happy Anniversary. 45 years!!

Love the earrings!! So shiny and sparkly.

  9. The best advise is to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. If you know someone is not trustworthy…never let on or tell them anything!
Nice earrings. Very pretty stones and style!!

  10. The best advice I ever got:
The human head is an oval, the eyes sit at the midpoint, and–here is the genius part- if the head is in profile, the skull is half again as wide as it is long.

    Or else:
    Baking Soda Cleans Everything.

I suspect I am not very philosophical; but those are very useful things to know, you know?

  11. Hi Crystal! Another beautiful pair of earrings, and they certainly do remind me of spring…but I’m so enjoying the winter! (We got tons of snow today, and it’s still snowing. I think theres over a foot and a half so far! Hope you got some too! 😀

    Best advice…Be yourself! xoxo

  12. Best advice has been to stop defining myself according to other people. Only I say who I am.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. The bast advice I got was to do my PhD in the cardiovascular realm rather than in immunology. Got me to Hamburg, changed my life.

  14. The best advice I have ever received… was to stop thinking that I always had to do everything myself. At work, at home, in everything… It is okay to ask for help. We can rely on other people and delegate when we need to.

  15. Best advice — it is okay to nap when your baby is napping. I think it’s the best advice so far, probably because it is currently the most relevant. When my daughter was first born, I spent so much of her nap times trying to catch up on things, only to feel utterly exhausted all the time. So, it’s okay to nap, it’s okay to leave the dishes in the sink, it’s okay to put off going to the grocery store … and so forth!

  16. The best advice I’ve gotten is a bit of a cliche but it is so true for me: Stop waiting for the future and enjoy the present! I never really understood this until I had kids, and now I try to remember it every day.

Thanks for the giveaway – I love that shade of green!

  17. The best advice ever received is “think before you speak.” Unfortunately I have a tendency to do the exact opposite then wonder why I didn’t “think before I spoke.” It’s a work in progress…

  18. Don’t compare yourself to other people–it’s depressing and distracting. My mom told me this.

  19. The best advice…take time to breathe! Taking one or two deep relaxing breaths through the day can make a world of difference!

  20. Love those adorable earrings! So cute and pretty. Hmm….best piece of advice my mom gave me was do not go to bed angry –say your sorry and make-up…I have gone by this for the last 9 years I have been with my husband and it works!

  21. Beautiful earrings! The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given (from Dad of course) is: are you ever going to see these people again? Keeping that in mind helped me remember to just be myself more times than I can count. Sure it’s lead to some funny “in public” moments, but the odds of me seeing those people again is slim, so why not be true to myself?

  22. I have been given lots of good advise
over the years. The one that comes
to mind as I sit here and think
is one I was told when I was young,
MYOB – mind your own business.
It sure helps to remember this one
when the gossip starts to fly about.
    Thank you.

  23. Wow – that is a HARD question. It would have to be something to the effect of ‘No use crying over spilled milk’ but not really in those words. Basically, I took out of the advice – when something has been lost or an opportunity missed – no use dwelling on it. Stay positive and move on. Dwelling on it only makes you stagnant and holds you back from achieving greatness.

  24. The best advice I’ve ever received was to be myself and to be happy, not to wait around for someone else to find my happiness for me.

  25. The best advise I ever got was from my friends and family. They told me that the man I was dating was not right for me and not to marry him when he asked. Too bad I didn’t listen.

  26. Hi! I don’t remember the best advice I have heard. I think the Girl Scouts helped me a lot as a child to always be prepared for no matter what.

  27. “Dont go to bed mad!!” I learned that from my Grandma. It is soooooo true. My Husband and I barely ever fight but we had one large one and we went to bed mad. Neither of us slept, we stayed in our seperate corners of the bed. It was horrible. We will never do that again!!!!

  28. The best advice? Boy this is a hard one-I’ve received lot of good advice,I guess to not let the sun go down on your wrath. Thank you for hosting this giveaway!

  29. the best advice may seem too preachy for some but has worked for me – Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

  30. I love your comment peggy! Preachy, yes, but SO true! The best advice I have received lately is that good listeners are the best communicators!

  31. Lovely earrings!

When I was a teenager I researched several possible career options. After discarding several I settled on one option and laid out a study path reaching about a decade into the future. Most people laughed in a superior mocking fashion but a couple of smart people I respected told me ‘Make plans because then if you do decide to take that fork in the road you will know which path you are turning from.’
And that is what happened. When I came to the choice my options were clear and with confidence I choose the alternative path.

  32. The best advice was given to me by one of my teachers. I can’t remember exactly what we talked about and what exactly she said, but she helped me to decide on what carries I’d like to choose, and I’m forever thankful to her for that.

  33. My best advice is to not hold a grudge! The truth of the matter is that whatever grudge your holding is only hurting yourself. It is not hurting the person you are angry with. Most of the time they don’t even know you’re hurt or angry. Instead communicate, forgive and move on!

  34. The best advice I have recieved is “Don’t get too comfortable in anything you do. Rather its a job or a relationship, dont take it for granted because you can get laid off when ever for no reason and your significant other can leave you because they just dont feel a spark anymore.”

  35. My mom always said to never go to bed angry and I think it’s great advice for leading a happy life.
