Giveaway – Royal Harlequin Earrings

Hi everyone!

Welcome to week twelve of the Monday Giveaways.

This week I’d like to introduce a new element to the weekly contest questions!

We’ll have 2 regular questions – as usual – but for the third chance to win, I’m requesting one of your favorite recipes! Although I did ask for a recipe once before, in the early days of the blog, today I have a new idea for something fun to do with them! If you look to the right of this page, you’ll see a little “recipe box”. I would love to fill it with your favorites, so that everyone can view and enjoy them!

Don’t worry! I won’t be looking for new recipes each week. But, every now and then, one of the weekly giveaway questions might be a recipe request. I think it will be fun for all of us to have this new source for meal suggestions – especially for those days when we’re just “fresh out of ideas”!! 🙂

This week’s giveaway is a beautiful pair of lampwork earrings!

royal-harlequin2

They feature gorgeous artisan-crafted lampwork beads with swirls of sapphire blue, aqua green, and twinkling strands of gold aventurine – which are hard to see in the photo but are so pretty and add a very delicate sparkle!

The lampwork beads are accented with Swarovski crystals in sapphire blue. All of the metal embellishments are gold vermeil or 14 kt. gold-filled.

For pierced ears, the earrings measure 1-3/8 inches in length including the 14 kt. Gold-filled earwires.

Contest Rules and How To Enter:

1. Leave a comment that answers the question: Do you carry anything with you for good luck? That will give you one chance to win.

2. For a second chance to win, leave a second comment that answers the question: What job would you have if you could have any one you wanted?

3. For a third chance to win, leave a comment with a recipe you like to make. For example: It can be something quick and easy (We all love those!). Or it can be more time-consuming if you think it’s really worth the extra time. Or maybe you have a favorite “family recipe” to share!

**You can choose any one or all of the above chances to enter.**

A valid email address must be given at time of entry. You must be 18 yrs. old. The name of the winner will be added to this post after the completion of the contest and the winner will be notified by email. The prize will be sent by USPS First Class Mail. If no valid email address is given at time of entry, or if winner fails to respond to email within 3 days from the time notification email has been sent, the win will be null and void and a new winner will be chosen.

All entries must be received by 10:00 p.m. EST on 02/01/09, and the winner will be selected on or about 02/02/09.

Giveaway – Royal Harlequin Earrings — 39 Comments

  1. First let me tell you that the earrings are absolutely beautiful!

Carry something for good luck? Naw, I don’t believe in that! You make your own luck…I believe in Karma. Nope, visualizing everything in my purse, nope, no good luck charms.

but here is a tip on how never to lose your keys. I developed this habit after losing my car keys at the Osco Drug store. Came out to my car with no keys in my hand. Went back in to retrace my tracks. I had been looking through a bin of smart saying t-shirts. Just in case I dropped them in there, I got a cart and started emptying the bin into the cart. Yep you guessed it, keys in bottom of bin.

Now, beside the extra key in my purse zipper pocket, I have attached a detachable chain somewhere inside my purse. Then I put my keychain on one of those hooks like is at the end of a dog leash. As soon as I take my key out of the ignition I clip them inside my purse. Hey, I should find one of those $25 tips in a magazine. Bet I could win.

  2. What job? Well, if you know me you know that I don’t do anything I don’t want to, and I don’t want what I can’t have.

So, the job I want is the one I have, which I took from a part time receptionist with no responsiblity to an intregal all important part of the company and tripled my hourly in just 7 years.

But the job I want is NO JOB! I want my IRA funds back that Bill Clinton helped me get and George W took away before he high tailed it back to Texas to play in the oil fields. Boo Hoo. The Saudis don’t like him anymore. Poor George.

  3. OK I am polish 100 per cent. Here is the coveted recipe for Polish Wedding Noodles. Sorry I don’t measure when I cook.

    1 pak Kluski Noodles
    1 big glob of butter
    Salt and Pepper
    pot of boiling water
    3 cans of chicken broth

Bring a dutch oven size pot of water and the broth and butter to a boil. Add the noodles and lower the heat. When the broth boils out so that the noodles are just a little saucy, salt and pepper to taste.

    They’re done!!

  4. I do carry something with me for good luck! Many years ago, my uncle gave me a buckeye for good luck. That buckeye never leaves my purse.
    Thanks, Cindi

  5. I have never carried anything for luck. When I was little I use to have a rabbits foot. The earrings are wonderful! Thank you!

  6. My favorite quick recipe is pistachio pudding, cool whip and marshmallows. My
family makes me make that every get together and it only takes a few minutes.

  7. One of my favorite recipes right now is a black bean wrap. I just warm a tortilla in a pan, then remove it. Next I use a little cooking spray to saute 1/4 c. black beans, 1/3 c. frozen corn, chopped onion, garlic, sprinkle with pepper and cumin to taste. Then I wrap this mixture in the tortilla with sliced tomato and avacado~MMMMM! (((((HUGS))))) and *THANK YOU!* for the chances to WIN! ~sandi

  8. i don’t always carry it with me, but i have a really small, smooth river rock that i sometimes have in my pocket for good luck – or maybe its more of a worry stone, actually!

  9. my fav. recipe for rice is quick and easy and very tasty. its really simple – just replace the water with a can of cream of mushroom soup, then add the rice. it makes more of a risotto.

  10. Lead singer of a chart-topping band. YAAAAAAY!

Or a superhero…ine…. WE ALL LOVE THOSE!

  11. I would be a SAHM full-time. Now if only someone can write me a big ole’ check to make that happen…

  12. Tomato Soup:
32 oz tomato soup (not condensed)
    1/4 cup water
6 oz dry pasta (elbows or such)
    12 mini meatballs (frozen kind)

Mix together in a pot. Bring to a boil and then simmer for about 15 min until pasta is done. Quick and easy.

  13. Any job I wanted??? Hmm…I would love to train dolphins (of course this would mean that I would be healthy enough to do it, right?? LOL!)

  14. I carry an old 1921 Indian head nickel in my purse. Call it luck, call it superstition…I’m not sure.

  15. If I could do anything at all I would volunteer for either the Peace Corps or an environmental organization as a full-time endeavor.

  16. I don’t carry an item with me for good luck, but I always have hope in my heart…for a good day…a continuing good marriage…good health, etc.

Dream job? Creating layouts for a fashion magazine.

I know this is longer than the others but dang, it is so fun and yummy!!!

Julie’s Taco/Enchilada meat recipe (to use on Taco Pizza below)

Chopped onion, about a quarter of a large one
    Garlic, 2-3 cloves chopped
Cook in oil for a bit and add some of the spices below and cook a little longer and then add hamburger, maybe half a pound, smash it up pretty good and then add full measure of spices below.

Sprinkle next 3 seasonings over top of meat…probably about a half teaspoon or so.

    Pappy’s seasoning
Lawry’s garlic salt with parsley (I’m told via family taste tests in Fresno no other brand is as good)
    Freshly ground black pepper

Heaping teaspoon (like you use for coffee, not for baking measurement) of the following 3 spices:

    Cumin
    Paprika (NOT smoked)
Chili powder (pasilla chili powder in the little bags from Foodmaxx’s Mexican food area is my fave)  I don’t recommend their bagged California chili powder as that is what you get in any jar of chili powder you buy.  As soon as I opened the bag the aroma was familiar.  There is also a New Mexico flavor that is a little different than California, but NOTHING smells as yummy and sweet as the pasilla.

Let cook a few minutes and then add about half a cup of tomato sauce…you don’t want the meat too wet. Then just stir on occasion until liquid reduces to a consistency you like.

    Taco pizza

Trader Joe’s fresh pizza dough (or yours or a fave boxed mix)…make it thin and top with the following layers:

    1. Taco sauce and beans
    2. Cooked meat & onion
    3. Cheese, olives and tomatoes

And most importantly, crushed tortilla chips or flavored taco chips on top! DONT’T dont forget them…they MAKE it!

Cook in oven according to pizza dough instructions.

    4. After you remove from the oven, top with lettuce and sour cream
    5. And add more taco sauce on top if you like

  17. I don’t carry anything with me for luck, but I do have a wooden statue of a dragon that I carry around the house with me when I’m writing. For inspiration. 🙂

  18. I don’t carry anything on me for luck. I am a christian and any good that happens to me is Providential.

  19. My new favorite recipe from discoveryhealth.com

    Salsa soup

    16oz salsa
    2C chicken broth
2C cooked shredded chicken or turkey
    2 tortillas
    1 avocado diced
    cilantro for garnish

Heat salsa and chicken broth for 5 mins. While salsa is cooking, place tortillas in sm amnt of oil to get crispy. Remove tortilla and cut into slices. Put soup in bowls, add the strips of tortilla to the soup, top with avocado, garnish with cilantro, can also top with ched cheese and sr cream. Quick, good, and healthy.

  20. Beautiful earrings! I don’t carry anything with me for good luck, but I wear a carved penny around a chain that was my grandmother’s good luck charm.

  21. Hi,

I have a prayer that my mom wrote for me so I could carry it around in my purse. I don’t know if I consider it good luck but I always have it with me.
